General Overall Offset Method of Complex Car-Body Surface Model

Published: 03 November 2023 Publication History

Abstract

The overall offset of complex car-body surface is an important requirement and difficulty in the process of computer-aided geometric design. Aiming at the problem of gap defects and surface overlap defects in the process of overall offset of surface, this paper proposes a high success rate and simple method for the overall offset of complex car-body surfaces, which is implemented and verified based on Siemens NX platform. This study identifies and marks the defect areas by calculating the distance attribute between the boundary pairs, cuts the defect areas based on topological operations by constructing a unified tool geometry, and uses a unified complementary surface method to repair the problem areas. In terms of the overall offset of complex car-body surfaces, this method can obtain the offset results that meet the engineering requirements with a high success rate.
