The anesthetic efficacy of Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) powders was evaluated on common carp ... more The anesthetic efficacy of Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) powders was evaluated on common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) The following concentrations (250, 350, 450) mg/liter were used in three replicates. During the experiment, the period required for partial and total anesthesia and the time required for partial and total recovery was tested, as well as the number of red and white blood cells after and before Anesthesia in addition to blood serum enzymes represented (ALP, GOT, GPT, CK, and LDH in Ul / l). The results showed that the least period of anesthesia occurred in the fourth treatment, the treatment with a concentration of 450 mg / l, as well as the least period required for recovery, while the recovery period was the longest. And anesthesia in the first treatment exposed to a concentration of 250 mg/liter, and it was not noticed that there was a significant difference between each the number of red blood cells, white blood cells in the test fish before the experiment and after treatment with valerian plants, as well as each of (ALP, GOT, GPT, CK, and LDH in Ul / l) There were no significant differences between all treatments before and after exposure to valerian, and it is concluded from the study that valerian is a safe plant for use in anesthetizing fish.

The study area included two colonies of floating cages for fish rearing north of Babel governorate (Al-Hindiia dam and Al-Mahaweel district) and samples that taken from each colony were five samples for each cage. The points from which water samples were taken were (before the cage directly, after the cage directly, after 1 km, after 2 km, after 3 km) where the samples were taken for a period of six months from July 1962 to December 2016 with one sample per month. The following laboratory tests were made : temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen DO, Electrical conductivity EC, Total dissolved solids TDS, Calcium (Ca), Potassium (k) , Sodium (Na), Chloride. The results showed that there were no significant differences in the values of chemical and physical specifications for (temperature, dissolved oxygen, d...

Three sites were selected on the Euphrates River in the middle of Iraq. The first site was Abu Luka, the second site was Al Saddah and the third site was the village of Al-Hussein. The results showed that in the first and second sites, the concentration of heavy metal in sediments and fish liver was greater than in the third site. In general, the cage fish at the first and second sites were higher than the wild fish. It was also noticed that the heavy metal concen...
