It is based on available literature about this topic. Thesis is divided into several parts. In the first I briefly explain the history of Halycz and the history of the studies carried out in this area from the end of the 19th century to present day. The next part of this work deals with the fortified settlements themselves. The study sample contains 10 settlements in the area of Halycz and near the Carpathian Mountains. This analytic part also contains the findings of the ruins of sacral buildings in the proximity of the settlements. These are both stone and wooden buildings. Only one of them survived to present day. Exceptional attention was paid to sacral buildings that were found in the earlier studies from the turn of the 19th and 20th century. These older studies focused on the question of the whereabouts of the Cathedral of the Dormition. The goal of this work is to present new information about the fortified settlements in the area of Halycz that were not published until present day.
