Assistant Professor in the Biology Department and Environmental Policy and Decision Making program at University of Puget Sound. Teaching responsibilities include upper-division courses in Conservation Biology, Ornithology, Biodiversity and interdisciplinary environmental seminars.
Director of the Juan Fernandez Islands Conservancy (JFIC), a program of Oikonos Ecosystem Knowledge. Responsible for leading JFIC's long-term conservation, restoration and community-based programs in Chile.
Research interests focus on ecology and conservation of seabirds and island ecosystems, including impacts of anthropogenic threats (e.g., habitat loss and disturbance, introduced species, interactions with fisheries, and plastic marine debris) on bird population dynamics, restoration of native ecosystems, population monitoring, seabirds as ecological indicators, and the role of seabirds as upper-trophic level predators.
