Richard Schwier has been with the University of Saskatchewan since 1978, where he was the Department Head in Curriculum Studies, and graduate program coordinator in Educational Technology and Design. A teacher at heart and by choice, Richard received the Master Teacher Award from the University of Saskatchewan in 1996 and was named a 3M National Teaching Fellow in 2005. HTML can offer compatibility to both Windows and Macintosh platforms, hypertext capabilities, a high degree of learner control over display characteristics, and a relatively small number of commands to master. On the other hand, HTML is not an authoring tool with the versatility of HyperCard and other similar aids; it is inflexible enough to limit control over interactivity and layout, and complicated enough to cause confusion at many stages in the process.
