It suggests that Constantino’s critical stance towards education embodies a type of philosophizing about education that centers on the problematization of the language of instruction, on the rendering of voice to those in the margins of Philippine society, and on taking a critical stance about education itself. It suggests further that this form of philosophizing about education and its instrumentalities is prospective of a Freirean liberating pedagogy that is inherently nonneutral, critical, dialogical, praxical, and transformative. keywords: Renato Constantino, Paulo Freire, neocolonial education, liberating pedagogy

These are the concepts of culture of silence, language of critique, culture of resistance and language of hope. In general, the world of education silently and passively accepts a regime perpetrated by giant publishing corporations. The practice of Sci-Hub mirrors a critique of a form of oppression and domination of consciousness-that a sensible rationality, discourse, and regime is one which is advocated by big corporations. I affirm that Sci-Hub is a creative response to a culture of silence effectively perpetuated by the regime of intellectual property, publishing industry and corporatization of the school. But at the same time, the practice of Sci-Hub manifests a clinging to the language of hope that resists the ideology of "There Is No Alternative" (TINA). Despite the inherent difficulties in the contemporary society, the practice of Sci Hub persists to look for small spaces to offer effective alternatives to the present order or lack of it.

SM is a business conglomerate in the Philippines and is deemed to be the most successful Filipino business enterprise. By SMization, I refer to the effective perpetuation and fortification of the neoliberal process in the Philippines and the broadening of its effect in all aspects of the lives of Filipinos: economic, social, religious, political, cultural, psychological, moral, ecological, and others. The SM conglomerate symbolizes the successful and effective entry of neoliberalism in the country. SMization may have many features but on this preliminary investigation, I will only explore three phenomena: hyperconsumerism, survival-of-the-fittest culture, and myth of upward mobility.

The CPE Program was made possible through a grant awarded by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and was conducted from 2018 to 2020. The purpose of the project is twofold. First is the critical mapping out of the current philosophical landscape in the Philippines, specifically the teaching and research practices in universities that offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in philosophy against the backdrop of globalization. Second, anchored in the main pillars set by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), is the design and implementation of an intervention program for philosophy educators in the form of Special Intensive Courses, specifically in the following areas: 1) Philosophical Anthropology, 2) Philosophy and Pedagogy, 3) Culture, Society, and Religion, and 3) Ethics in Action. Keywords: philosophy in the Philippines, continuing professional education in philosophy, pedagogy in philosophy, research in philosophy
