Interest in eco-innovation is growing, as its implementation facilitates the transition toward sustainable development and a circular economy, while enabling firms to attain a competitive advantage vis-à-vis capabilities that foster sustainable economic and environmental development. However, literature on eco-innovation capabilities construct development, measurement and validation is scant. This study, therefore, develops an Eco-innovation Capabilities Scale for oil and gas firms.Design/methodology/approachThree dimensions of Eco-innovation Capabilities are identified through an extensive literature review and qualitative interviews. Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis is applied to data collected from managers of Malaysian Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) companies.FindingsResults reveal a parsimonious three-dimensional structure with nine items. The construct of eco-innovation capabilities is manifested by Product Service Stewardship, Environmental Pollution Prevention and Sustainable Development Commitment dimensions. Reliability analysis confirms the reliability and validity of the scale.Originality/valueThe eco-innovation capabilities scale should be useful to researchers in exploring dimensions, factors and outcomes of eco-innovation capabilities. Oil and gas firms play a key role in the global energy mix; hence managers of oil and gas firms may also find this scale useful in measuring their eco-innovation implementation.

Given that mind mapping has seen notable success in assessment and exam preparation, this study investigated the effectiveness of mind mapping as an active learning tool for university students. In addition, this study also looked into areas of active learning that could possibly require further improvement. Data collected from 22 Strategic management students was analysed using quantitative and qualitative methods. Results from the one-sample t-test suggest that the mind map technique enhances students learning ability. Results from the qualitative phase revealed areas that students feel could assist them to better utilize the mind map technique. Future improvements for the use of mind map technique for students are also discussed

A careful examination of existing literature on the construct of ICSR facilitates the necessity for the development of a research framework consisting of several research propositions. An integrated conceptual framework of ICSR belief and employee intention to job continuity was constructed based on the existing conceptualization of corporate social responsibility and ICSR. In addition, this paper proposes a quantitative research method to obtain information about ICSR belief and employee intention to job continuity. Questionnaire instrument will be used to collect data from the employee. The paper also proposes partial least square structural equation modeling for the proposed study analysis. Panel data associated with eco-innovation proactiveness and firm financial progression which were collected from three different sources such as company's websites, annual reports and sustainability reports using content analysis. For data collection, an index was adapted comprising 5 dimensions of eco-innovation named as product, process, technology, organizational and marketing. In addition to that, Tobin's Q was considered as a proxy dimension for firm financial progression because it considers both market value as well as the book value.

Existing research examines aspects of governance and entrepreneurship without any consideration of the links that may exist between these two drivers. This study seeks to address this gap. Practicing corporate entrepreneurship has become an important element to compete successfully in today’s competitive environment. However, an overemphasis of entrepreneurship could also lead towards negative implications such as high-risk, as the outcome is unknown and involves an element of uncertainty which could have negative implications on the company. On the other hand, organisations are also required to practice robust corporate governance in order to enhance greater transparency and accountability. Although the benefits of corporate governance are well acknowledge, there is the potential for a tension to arise between the...

Design/methodology/approach: Reasonable theoretical arguments drawn from Upper-echelon theory and agency theory suggest that board characteristics (gender diversity) may have either a positive, negative, or a neutral effect on the firm value. Bridging as gender diversity and Bonding has firm performance. To investigate this phenomenon relevant hypotheses are developed to test diversity at board level and its impact on firm value with the use of appropriate variables and measures. For this empirical work, the board of directors attributes and financial data used over the period 2009 to 2013. A total sample of large 60 top Malaysian listed companies is selected on the basis of their market capitalization. This study incorporates econometrics methodology on panel data analysis, which is used rigorously for hypothesis testing. Findings: The study revealed that Gender diversity has no significant impact on firm value. The results indicate that demographic diversity at board level does have a relationship with market value. Originality/value: Many governments seek to impose diversity in the boardroom, but the consequences of doing so are inconsistent and could decrease firm performance and economies. While extensive literature exists on diversity issues, this issue is still under debate and inconsistent results. Furthermore, there is a need to investigate this problem in a more holistic way and with rigorous statistical estimation. The paper attempts to fill the gap in the existing literature, discuss the empirically diverse corporate boards and impact on the firm performance. Introduction One of the vital issues for corporate boards of listed firms are its board composition. Corporate board is considered to be balanced if its board members come from various backgrounds, which benefits it to perform more effectively. A sample of 384 was drawn from approximately 193,570 population both Ph.D. and research-based Master students who are currently studying in Malaysia during the COVID-19 pandemic. A simple random sampling technique was used to collect the data. Data were collected through an online survey questionnaire. The surveys were administered to the Ph.D. and research-based master's students between June 15 and June 29, 2020, with the support of Internet platforms (Institutional Email, Google Form, WhatsApp), and resulted in valid 103 responses. The response rate is 26.82%. Demographic information data were collected by using 11 items. Efforts were made to improvise the local corporate governance code in 2007 & 2012. However, greater efforts are needed so that the interests of the shareholders are well protected and hence are able to make better investment decisions. Looking towards the western countries and the neighbouring countries, corporate governance has been a vigorously practiced phenomenon and companies have to be very transparent about their operations, especially the on-goings of the Board. Organisations were established to provide data and information to the general public about the above and their efforts of measuring governance practice of corporations has been welcomed by the majority of investors. However, when looking into the Malaysian context, there are hardly any organizations that follow a similar duty. Information can only be found in annual reports and Bursa Malaysia...

However, there has been a growing demand by stakeholders to incorporate proactive approach in business activities. To meet that, green innovation practices (GIPs) has been integrated as a new element in environmental reporting, thereby reflecting the proactiveness of companies in their adoption of green innovation reporting (GIR). The objective of this study is to advocate for greater disclosure on sustainability reporting by incorporating the GIPs of companies and substantial, sustainable development goal contribution, along with the moderation of the newly upgraded ISO 56002‐2019 innovation management system. A qualitative phenomenological research method was undertaken. In-depth interviews were conducted. The analysis revealed five themes that highlight the shopper's impulsive shopping experiences. Themes were divided into textural and structural descriptions of the phenomenon. In textual description one theme emerged that illustrate shopper post impulsive shopping experience. In structural description four themes emerged in which shopper expressed that they forced to do impulsive shopping. Impulse shopping is a blessing for retailer's perspective, however, it has found that shoppers are smart they can track retailer's tactics that persuading to increase impulse shopping. Now it is a challenge for retailers to overcome the situation. In this context, this study also discussed how does retailers can maximize profit by using the insights from game theory to shape a game that is right for their shoppers. An idea of creating value and how to capture value through game changing were elaborated.
