Christian character. Smith posited the need for Christian counter-formation at the affective level. This essay applies Smith’s method of “cultural exegesis” to a Turkish cultural practice, the “pinning ceremony” at a Turkish wedding. Using the findings of this analysis, recommendations for corporate discipleship practices for the Turkish church are set forth.
