Stephen Wigmore
Completed my PhD in Philosophy at the University of Warwick on 'An Examination of Max Scheler's Phenomenological Ethics'
My research is based around applying Phenomenology to Ethics. In my thesis I did two things. First, defending and advocating the ground-breaking phenomenological ethical philosophy of Max Scheler. Second taking Scheler's work, as well as other 19th-20th Century Continental philosophers such as Levinas, Husserl, Edith Stein, Kiekegaard, Otto and Kant, and combining them to provide a richer and more complete philosophical description of the nature of our ethical life and experience of values.
Before my PhD my MA was in Continental Philosophy, and before that my BSc was in Mathematics. I also have strong interests in History, Theology, Politics, and Economics. Outside of my work I am an Anglican Christian, a liberal conservative, a keen gardener and an amateur historian, among other things.
