The close friendships of 222 college students were examined within the context of his or her mindfulness ability and history of various forms of childhood abuse (parental physical abuse, sibling physical abuse, peer bullying, exposure to parental domestic violence). ADF-F2 situational and personal maintenance difficulty were linked to mindfulness skills and parental physical abuse during upbringing. Friendships described by respondents seemed more urgent, appreciated, and " bound " , while less easily maintained, as a function of childhood parental physical abuse experiences. Incidents of childhood parental physical abuse also predicted lower MAAS mindfulness abilities. Gender differences in the strengths of these ADF-F2, VEQ-R and MASS relationships were minimal. The interactions between mindfulness and parental physical abuse on ADF-F2 situational and personal maintenance difficulty were not statistically significant suggesting that these factors were best conceptualized, at least within the present sample as independent contributors. These results are discussed with an emphasis on the importance of both developmental stressors and sources of resiliency in trying to understanding the acquisition of relationship maintenance skills in adolescence and early adulthood.

Multiple factors contribute to the challenges facing professionals who serve the senior population and try to get them involved in social support services. Nonprofit programs and government subsidized programs have potential to ameliorate conditions surrounding food insecurity, but programs relating to food support tend to be vastly underutilized by this population. Several of the factors that contribute to non-participation in community resources are the basis of this study. Understanding the mitigating attitudes and behaviors surrounding participation can be integral to increasing involvement among this population in social support programs. This study developed a PSA campaign based upon theoretical models that have previously enhanced health behaviors in an effort to investigate underlying attitudes toward social support programs which can lead to non-participation. It was determined that attitude toward the SNAP program and subjective norms were predictive of intention to participate in the program.
