Prostate cancer patients may have an increased rate of osteopenia and osteoporosis independent of therapy. Osteopenia and fracture risk are accelerated in men receiving androgen deprivation therapy. Nevertheless, little is done by primary care physicians and urologists to diagnose and treat osteoporosis in men. Aims: (1) Assess prostate cancer patients' compliance and adherence to bisphosphonate therapy; (2) Increase awareness for osteoporosis in men diagnosed with prostate cancer among urologists and primary care physicians and to evaluate collaboration between the two disciplines. Methods: We included patients with confirmed diagnosis of prostate cancer who fulfilled one or more of the following criteria: (1) age 70 and above; (2) age 60 and above with androgen deprivation therapy or (3) prior diagnosis of osteopenia and osteoporosis. Qualified patients were referred to DXA bone density test. Patients with osteopenia or osteoporosis, who were naïve to bisphosphonates, received recommendations for oral bisphosphonates. Follow-up lasted 6 months and included 2 office visits to ensure patients' compliance and adherence to recommended therapy. Results: A total of 28 community-based urologists recruited 180 patients. Of the 180 prostate cancer patients, 87 (48%) had osteoporosis and 93 (52%) osteopenia, all were naïve to bisphosphonates. Of the 180 patients, 153 (85%) patients started treatment with bisphosphonates after inclusion; 147/180 (82%) and 136/180 (76%) patients stayed on bisphosphonates for 3 and 6 months respectively. Primary care physicians adopted recommendations for bisphosphonate in 123/180 (68%). Conclusions: This study showed high compliance and adherence of prostate cancer patients for bisphosphonate recommendation.

We hypothesized that a higher degree of religiosity (ultra-Orthodox and religious participants) would be associated with higher levels of resilience and with lower levels of anxiety than in secular individuals. In addition, it was hypothesized that satisfaction with life, social support, anxiety, and religiosity will predict resilience and anxiety. Nine hundred and ninety-three native Jewish Hebrew-speaking respondents representing ultra-Orthodox, religious, observant, and secular Jews participated in this study. Ultra-Orthodox participants showed higher resilience and satisfaction with life than other groups, and lower levels of anxiety. Satisfaction with life and social support predicted higher resilience. It is suggested that religious...
To assess the physical and mental development of infants born after in vitro fertilization (IVF),... more To assess the physical and mental development of infants born after in vitro fertilization (IVF), we performed a general physical and developmental examination (Bayley and Stanford-Binet scales) on a cohort of 116 IVF children, conceived and born at our institution between February 1985 and March 1989, and on 116 non-IVF matched controls. Study and control groups were each composed of 66 singletons, 19 pairs of twins and 4 sets of triplets, whose age at examination ranged from 12 to 45 months. The developmental indices of IVF infants were within the normal range and did not differ from those of their matched controls. The indices were positively correlated to gestational age, birth weight, head circumference at birth and at examination, and mother's education. Mean birth weight, gestational age, and birth weight percentile of IVF infants were lower than the mean of the healthy population. Mean percentiles of weight and length at examination (mean age 22.4 months) were equally lo...

The difficulties with meeting academic requirements have raised the awareness of the needs of students with LD for support services. The present study examined the adequacy of entrance criteria to academic studies for students with LD and the effectiveness of three support levels during their academic studies in increasing their academic gains. Data were collected for 315 college graduates with LD and 955 graduates who do not have LD (NLD) who completed their BA studies in a college in Israel. Although the admission scores of graduates with LD were lower than those of NLD graduates, their GPA was higher than the GPA of NLD graduates. The psychometric score had a low correlation with final college GPA of graduates with LD. There was no difference in the final GPA of the graduates with LD in the different support progra...
The contribution of morphological awareness to reading comprehension in Hebrew was studied in 298... more The contribution of morphological awareness to reading comprehension in Hebrew was studied in 298 second grade students who practiced two types of inflections, plural and possessive. Reading tasks at the beginning and end of the school year indicated that all improved on all tests in that period. Orthographic word recognition and morphological awareness predicted reading comprehension at the end of year. Students with low (LPD) and high (HPD) phonological decoding skills clearly differed qualitatively in reading comprehension. In the HPD students it was predicted by awareness of possessive inflections; in the LPD students it was predicted by orthographic word recognition ability. The results highlight the importance of examining the different components of morphological awareness in readers with different levels of phonological decoding ability.

The assumption was that students would react favorably to a mechanism that enables them to excel in every assignment. Preliminary research shows that although there is a positive and significant correlation between the number of drafts submitted per assignment and the final grade, some of the students do not take advantage of the mechanism offered. The results indicate a positive attitude toward (1) Usage of time for multi-drafting; (2) Opportunity to improve grades & excel; and (3) Fairness of grading. This study shows that content management of Web-based learning provides an opportunity for the teacher to improve students' learning by offering continuous revisions of their work through multiple drafts. Accumulating a joint digital portfolio enables the teacher to easily monitor the student's progress per assignment and per course.

Social peer rejection entails being rejected, excluded, ostracized, or criticized by one's peers; lack of active sympathy and active dislike on the part of one's peers; ignoring; preventing access to friends, playtime activities, toys, or important information; verbal aggression; commands; and blaming the rejected child. Evidence for the validity and reliability of the scale is presented. Results indicated strong content validity, construct validity, and criterion-referenced validity. Differences were found between females and males in terms of insult, accusation, and reported levels of physical attack.

First, a preliminary research based on data from the Highlearn web‐based content learning environment, analyzing the correlations between the number of drafts submitted and the final grade per assignment. Second, a questionnaire based and designed to evaluate the influence of the demographic background of students on multi‐drafting traits. The variables influencing the utilization of multi‐drafting for a given assignment were examined using a 23‐item Likert scale questionnaire.FindingsThe results indicate that students tend to regard multi‐drafting as a positive usage of time; they appreciate it as an opportunity to improve their grades; and they value its advantage for fairness of grading.
