BAD IDEA is a British general interest magazine.

Overview

BAD IDEA was founded in September 2006 by journalists Jack Roberts and Daniel Stacey, both of whom were students at a magazine production class run by Clay Felker, the founder of New York Magazine, at the University of California.

BAD IDEA is known for its feature stories, which are often written in the first person. These have included insider accounts of life as a ‘honeytrapper’ – a private detective sent to ensnare potentially unfaithful husbands; an expose of Dubai’s sex trade; an investigation into the growth of ‘Web 2.0’ sex dating sites; and a feature following Iraq’s Kurds, as they search for DNA evidence of Saddam Hussein’s ‘Anfal’ genocide.

In May 2008, Portico Books released BAD IDEA – The Anthology, a paperback collection of writing from the magazine’s first two years. The magazine was described in a small review of the book published in the Observer as having ‘…hacked itself a niche as a Granta for the MySpace generation’, and the book received 4/5 stars in the Independent on Sunday, where it was said to be '… a great selection of work’.

How Ace Are Buildings

How Ace Are Buildings is the debut album by British alternative rock band A, released in 1997.

The album was re-released in 1998, in the form of cassette and LTD Edition 12". Whereas the cassette featured the same tracks, the 12" album also included a bonus disc, featuring 'A' remixes and live tracks.

The vinyl edition was limited to 500 copies.

Track listing

"Number One" features a portion of lyrics taken from Billy Joel's 1978 track "My Life". Joel was namechecked in the credits as a result. The "borrowed" lyrics are:

"Cheeky Monkey" features a sample of the actor/comedian John Thomson using the phrase "oh, you cheeky monkey" - this is taken from Thompson's appearance on Knowing Me, Knowing You... with Alan Partridge in character as "Joe Beesley" an inept ventriloquist with a puppet monkey.

What's Inside: Songs from Waitress is the fifth studio album and fourth major-label album by American singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, released on November 6, 2015, through Epic Records. The lead single from the album, "She Used to Be Mine", was released digitally on September 25, 2015.

Background

In June 2013, it was reported that Bareilles was to score Waitress, a musical adaptation of the 2007 film of the same name. The musical opened on August 20, 2015 at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The production was directed by Diane Paulus and starred Jessie Mueller in the leading role. Bareilles debuted one song from the musical called "She Used to be Mine" during some shows on her Little Black Dress Tour. The show closed on September 27, 2015, and after the successful run at A.R.T., it will move to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Broadway in April 2016. Previews will begin in March 2016 with Mueller retaining the lead.

While writing the musical, Bareilles "fell more deeply in love with the writing of the musical Waitress than I had ever imagined." Her decision to record an album of the songs came because it "proved impossible for me to imagine handing over the songs to the show before selfishly finding a way to sing them myself." She confirmed during a Google Hangout Q & A session in June 2015 that the musical's songs would be reworked "to sound like Sara Bareilles songs."
