2015 Indonesia Super League

The 2015 Indonesia Super League (also known as the QNB League for sponsorship reasons) season was the 7th season of the Indonesia Super League (ISL), a fully professional football competition as the top tier of the football league pyramid in Indonesia.

The champion of this season will qualify for the 2016 AFC Champions League Qualifying play-off Round 2. The season was planned to be started in February 2015. It was first officially announced that the 2015 Indonesia Super League will start on February 1, 2015, with verification process for the participants done in December 2014 but because of the reduction to participants to 18 teams, it is planned to start either on February 21 or 22.

The season will have some changes including the implementation of three different kick-off time for weekend matches, which are 15:30, 19:00 and 21:00. There will be also only two weekday matches scheduled.

After Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, Imam Nahrawi, postponed the start of the season because of legal verifications reasons, on February 23, 2015, it was agreed that this season will start on April 4, 2015. The revised schedule is planned to end on November 23, 2015. This season was officially discontinued by PSSI on May 2, 2015 due to a ban by Imam Nahrawi, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, against PSSI to run any football competition.

2014 Indonesia Super League

The 2014 Indonesia Super League season is the sixth season of the Indonesia Super League (ISL), a fully professional football competition as the top tier of the football league pyramid in Indonesia. The season is scheduled to begin on January 2014, but in the end PSSI decided that the competition will begin on 1 February 2014 and possibly ends on 7 November 2014. Competition schedule was released on 17 January 2014 by PT Liga Indonesia in Jakarta.

Persipura are the defending champions, having won their fourth league title in 2013.

This season saw the merging of the two professional leagues in Indonesia – Indonesian Premier League (IPL) and Indonesian Super League (ISL) – after the two competitions had run since 2011. It was decided that only four teams from the Premier League would join the new Super League.

The 22 clubs will be divided into two groups (regions) so each group contains eleven participating teams, this is due to the many political agenda in Indonesia in 2014 such as the parliamentary election on 9 April 2014 and the Presidential election on 9 July 2014.
