Line is a female given name, most common in the Nordic countries Denmark and Norway. It is a short form of names which end in -line, like Caroline. The Swedish form is Lina. In Norway its Name day is 20 January.

Line (unit)

The line or British line (abbreviated L or l) was a small English unit of length, variously reckoned as ¹⁄₁₀, ¹⁄₁₂, ¹⁄₁₆, or ¹⁄₄₀ of an inch. It was not included among the units authorized as the British Imperial system in 1824.

Size

The line was not recognized by any statute of the English Parliament but was usually understood as ¹⁄₄ of a barleycorn, which itself was recognized by statute as ¹⁄₃ of an inch but often reckoned as ¹⁄₄ of an inch instead. The line was eventually decimalized as ¹⁄₁₀ of an inch, without recourse to barleycorns. The button trade used the term, redefined as ¹⁄₄₀ of an inch.

In use

Botanists formerly used the units (usually as ¹⁄₁₂ inch) to measure the size of plant parts. Linnaeus's Philosophia botanica (1751) includes the Linea in its summary of units of measurements, defining it as "Linea una Mensurae parisinae"; Stearns gives its length as 2.25 mm. Even after metrication, British botanists continued to employ tools with gradations marked as linea (lines); the British line is approx. 2.1 mm and the Paris line approx. 2.3 mm.

Floor plan

In architecture and building engineering, a floor plan is a drawing to scale, showing a view from above, of the relationships between rooms, spaces and other physical features at one level of a structure.

Dimensions are usually drawn between the walls to specify room sizes and wall lengths. Floor plans may also include details of fixtures like sinks, water heaters, furnaces, etc. Floor plans may include notes for construction to specify finishes, construction methods, or symbols for electrical items.

It is also called a plan which is a measured plane typically projected at the floor height of 4 ft (1.2 m), as opposed to an elevation which is a measured plane projected from the side of a building, along its height, or a section or cross section where a building, is cut along an axis to reveal the interior structure.

Overview

Similar to a map the orientation of the view is downward from above, but unlike a conventional map, a plan is drawn at a particular vertical position (commonly at about 4 feet above the floor). Objects below this level are seen, objects at this level are shown 'cut' in plan-section, and objects above this vertical position within the structure are omitted or shown dashed. Plan view or planform is defined as a vertical orthographic projection of an object on a horizontal plane, like a map.

Mirage (Transformers)

Mirage is the name of several fictional characters from the Transformers series. Mirage is one of the most re-used names in the Transformers series, and is almost entirely synonymous with characters possessing Formula One racing car alternate modes. The first Mirage was introduced in 1984 as an Autobot spy.

Some might say that Mirage (Ligier in Japan, Mistero in Italy, Miragem in Portugal) was created with a silver sparkplug in his mouth. On Cybertron, he was one of the planet’s elite upper class, preferring to spend his days hunting turbo-foxes instead of involving himself in conflict. When that became unavoidable, Mirage enlisted with the Autobot forces, although he is often unsure about his motivations for doing so, which leaves his fellow Autobots finding it hard to trust him – a problem not helped by the fact that Mirage can rarely hide that he is often unwilling to fight directly, or his contempt for the “commoners” he is now forced to interact with. He has no lost love for Earth, and would happily return to his old life on Cybertron if he could.

Mirage (1972 film)

Mirage (Spanish: Espejismo) is a 1972 Peruvian drama film directed by Armando Robles Godoy. Robles Godoy wrote the screenplay together with Bernardo Batievsky. It is the only Peruvian film to date to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

Plot

A story about a young man who inherits a broken down estate at the edge of the Peruvian desert, with no explanation about the former owners or what had become of the once thriving house. By searching through the rocks and sands for relics, he discovers the answers to the mystery, told in flashback. The film combines the boy's search with other socio-economic issues relevant to Peru in a confusing, but insightful manner.

Fortune (Chris Brown album)

Fortune is the fifth studio album by American recording artist Chris Brown, released on June 29, 2012. The album is Brown's first release through RCA Records, following the disbandment of Jive Records in October 2011. As the executive producer of the album, Brown collaborated with several record producers, including The Underdogs, Polow da Don, Brian Kennedy, The Runners, The Messengers, Danja and Fuego, among others. The album also features several guest appearances, including Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Nas, Kevin McCall, Sevyn and Sabrina Antoinette. Originally scheduled for release six months after the release of his fourth studio album F.A.M.E. (2011), Fortune received several push backs.

Upon its release, Fortune received generally negative reviews from music critics, who panned its songwriting and music. In the United States, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 135,000 copies in its first week making it Brown's second number one album in the U.S. The album also debuted at number one in the Netherlands, New Zealand and United Kingdom, and reached the top ten in Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Japan and Switzerland.
