Netflix announces the impending arrival of new games including massive sports series

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 31st, 2025

I don’t know about you, but I have gotten pretty bored of Netflix personally, nothing has grabbed my attention recently. My subscription is still active, though, which will work for my adventure as the streaming juggernaut has announced some new games coming to their catalogue, and some of them are huge names.

The two drama series Ginny & Georgia, and Sweet Magnolias have both been hits with Netflix, surviving for multiple seasons each. To capitalize on their popularity, they will both be thrust into the video gaming world through Netflix Stories, available on Android and Apple, giving fans the opportunity to get hands-on with the stories.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket introduces trading with several frustrating restrictions

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 30th, 2025

The latest expansion for Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is out and includes the greatest of all characters, Lucario, so this should be a day of celebration. Instead, I am left with overwhelming disappointment due to the truly horrific implementation of the trading feature.

I have covered this before, and I shared my fears of how badly they could restrict this mechanic. Then, the developers announced there would be two different resources used up, and that was quite frustrating. Now it is out, and it turns out that they sugar-coated just how aggressively they were going to monetise this.

GodLike Esport pulls off a movie-script comeback to cinch the Pokemon Unite ACL 2025 India League

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 29th, 2025

Never have I been so mad to report on the team that won an eSports tournament, and the reason is so petty. Team Godlike Esports blitzed through their competition in the Pokemon Unite ACL 2025 India League to secure a dream title, which is impressive and well done, but wow does that team name really annoy me. It physically makes me recoil.

Moving on from minor gripes, let’s start from the bottom because this is either the classic underdog tale or a staggering feat of hustling. GodLike faltered multiple times through the Group Stage of the tournament, with the threat of an unceremonious exit looming for seven days. Somehow they made it through, but barely and into Round 7, the lowest of the low.

Koei Tecmo announces closure of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator Global just days after first anniversary

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 28th, 2025

Koei Tecmo has taken a leaf out of the Square Enix mobile playbook and announced the rather abrupt termination of the global version of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. On the plus side, we don’t have to ever worry about missing part of that massive title again.

This is particularly noteworthy for two reasons. To begin with, it was only around in a global capacity for just over a year. Literally, its birthday was last week, what a gift. Secondly, it is a shame personally, because I have particularly fond memories of playing Atelier Iris 2: The Azoth of Destiny on the PS2 as a child. It's a shame to see part of the series die so fast.

KartRider Rush+ does its part for the environment by teaming up with Hyundai and its IONIQ line

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 27th, 2025

As much as I enjoy speeding around the backroads in my diesel-guzzling Jaguar as it screams its lungs out, I am resigned to knowing one day will will all have to move to electric cars. So, it's good when racing games try to make them look exciting, such as now with KartRider Rush+ teaming with Hyundai.

No doubt you would have heard of the IONIQ line, and you will be able to race two of the models in kart form. You can pick up the IONIQ 9 item kart, IONIQ 9 Balloon, and IQONIQ 9 Plate from the game’s shop, although to be honest, who wants to race that boxy thing? No, my friends, the fun is in the IONIQ 6 Speed Kart.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is taking us back to Sinnoh with the Space-Time Smackdown expansion

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 24th, 2025

I woke up this morning thinking it would be a refreshing change of pace not to talk about Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket. But then they go and release a huge amount of data about the next card expansion, so here we go again. Space-Time Smackdown launches on January 29th, and we are going back to Generation 4.

The first thing that jumps out to me personally is that it seems we are returning to the multiple-pack approach, with Dialga and Palkia sets. That bugs me a lot because it just feels greedy. If you are pulling loads for the rarest cards in the Palkia set, you aren't even getting the basics from the other. It seems like a way to encourage spending, and I am not a fan.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket adds a little extra to the American McDonalds Happy Meal

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 22nd, 2025

I have been dragging on Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket enough lately that we could probably rename the site 148Pokemon, but shockingly we have some news I won’t be whining about. The Pokemon Company has partnered up with fast food giants McDonalds to offer some pretty decent rewards.

The goodies on offer here are 24 Pack Hourglasses and 12 Wonder Hourglasses. Or in simpler terms; two packs of cards and one Wonder Pick. To be fair, it's not a bad haul if you are feeling peckish anyway, especially with the new boosters packs coming this month. Hopefully, Lucario makes its debut, but I digress.

Netmarble celebrate 1.5 years of Tower of God: New World with copious rewards

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 22nd, 2025

Netmarble has lit the candles and is celebrating the 1.5 Year Anniversary of Tower of God: New World. Or at least one candle and then cut another in half. Hypothetical fire sticks aside, you can recruit two powerful new heroes, take part in events, and suffocate in a sea of prizes.

SSR+ [Forget-Me-Not] Dowon is a Blue Mage Wave Controller. She can use her Flower Garden special move to become immune to status effects and summon Shinsu spheres that will explode and deal AoE damage. Our second hero is SSR [Spear Bearer] Anaak, a Red Ranged Spear Bearer who can wreck foes with a giant spear. Simple, but effective.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket releases an event it doesn’t have the card depth to keep interesting

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 21st, 2025

Another day, another gripe about Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket. Today, it is the two new events that have been announced. It might be surprising to hear, but one of them I actually like, but as for the other one, prepare for the customary complaining.

Let’s start with the lovely news; a free promo card for all! The Pokemon Company is giving this away to commemorate 40 billion cards being acquired worldwide by all players. This is a fabulous amount that is only slightly let down by no doubt 99% of them being low-rarity duplicates. I base this on my own experience still not completing the Mystical Island binder of 68 cards despite opening a huge number of packs.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket announces raft of restrictions for its upcoming trading feature

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 20th, 2025

There are times when I feel like I might attack Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket too much, but then the developers make another shocking decision. As an example, we recently had an announcement about how trading will be implemented, and it is pretty much the worst-case scenario.

To start with, trades can only be done between friends, which is understandable. And this is the end of the reasonable restrictions. Only cards with a rarity of one to four, and also one star can be traded. On top of this, you must be using cards of the same rarity.

KartRider Rush+ hits a big milestone by reaching Season 30

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 17th, 2025

Despite the regularity of the updates that Nexon puts out for KartRider Rush+, I never really properly clocked the number until now. KRR+ has now released its 30th Season, which is pretty impressive. The name is not though; The World 2. Criticism aside, we can expect the usual unveiling of karts, characters, and courses.

Let’s start with what everyone loves the most; the karts. There are quite a few, starting with the highlighted Mantis Sentinel and Matis Spirit. As well as these we have five item karts in Black Tortoise, Dragon Wagon, Cloud Hot Air Balloon, Food Truck and Lolly Lapper. Finally, we top off three three speed karts; New Wind Edge, Venom Blitzer and Shadow Fox.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket releases Part 2 of its generously referred to “event”

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 16th, 2025

For all its’ fanfare when it was released, and I was one of those in the mass of excited bodies, Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has been underwhelming. Even its latest event, which recently kicked off, the Wonder Pick Event Part 2, had been a bit of a whimper.

To start off, it has hardly been a proper update has it? As the name suggests it is continuing the work that Part 1 started last week, and that had more content. Pretty much all we have is the addition of a few new Blastoise items in the event shop, which is okay at best.

Strap in for some zany felonious fun with Turnip Boy Robs a Bank

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 15th, 2025

Whilst we all deeply love the involved worlds and storytelling of a Witcher 3 or a Final Fantasy, sometimes we just have silly, stupid fun, and that is what Snoozy Kazoo is serving up. You can now get your hands on Turnip Boy Robs a Bank for mobile and revel in the anarchy.

This is the second game in this series following Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion because vegetables get up to a lot more fugitive fun than we all thought. As you might have deduced by the names, both the game and the developer, we aren't in for an epic world-ending story here, just a thoroughly enjoyable stupid time.

Apple Arcade subscribers are in for a treat as RPG royalty, Final Fantasy, arrives to the service

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 14th, 2025

Today is a good day for two reasons. First of all, the first Final Fantasy is coming to Apple Arcade for subscribers to have a field day with. Technically named Final Fantasy+. Secondly, this article is a flimsy pretext for me to discuss one of my all-time favourite series.

Final Fantasy is one of those franchises that you would have heard of even if you have only played Snake on a Nokia. Even the tale around its name is legendary. If you believe the story, it was to be Square's “final” attempt at avoiding bankruptcy. In reality, according to interviews with Hironobu Sakaguchi, father of the franchise, the title merely meant it was his final attempt to become a successful game developer.

Zenless Zone Zero introduces multiple characters and modes in new version

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 13th, 2025

HoYo is looking to ring in the New Year with Zenless Zone Zero version 1.5 placing famous in-game singer Astra Yao on the stage. She will perform at Starloop, with her trusty bodyguard Evelyn and the Proxy keeping watch for any and all conspiracies threatening the concert.

You will be able to recruit the star of the show as an S-Rank Ether Support, and she sounds pretty interesting. Astra can enter the Idyllic Cadenza state, boosting her team's attack. She will even stick around to buff should you switch members, which is perfect for a burst window. You can also use her Ultimate to heal everyone, an extra bonus.
