The rotor housing has achieved wear resistance by ensuring a high-strength plating film through dense plating and by retaining a lubricating oil film in the oil pool grooves on the plating surface. This time, in order to revive the rotary engine, we applied a new plating method andC.O.2We worked on reducing this as an issue. Specifically, in the production process,6.5The plating process took many hours, and it also required an oil pool groove formation process using reverse electric treatment to maintain the oil film. Adding a catalyst to the plating solution increases the plating deposition efficiency and reduces the processing time by more than half of the conventional method.3There has been a method to form oil reservoir grooves at the same time as the plating process while reducing the time required, but it is possible to reduce the variation in the plating deposition rate on workpieces with complex shapes and obtain a uniform plating film as desired. was an issue in mass production. In the current scenario, there is a global drive for light as well as heavy duty vehicles to meet the legal norms of vehicle emissions. The surface engineering approach has emerged to be the possible solutionwhich is attracting increasing attention worldwide. Through this approach certain light weight alloys such as Mo, CrC are employed to utilise the best of their properties towards fuel and energy saving thereby enhancing the overall engine life. This review paper caters to give an idea of broad category of different coating techniques that are currently being adopted by industries in the application of piston ring coating in order to increase engine efficiency and life. The paper also highlights the effect of different coating technique on the tribological behaviour of the piston ring such as wear resistance, surface morphology, surface hardness, adhesion, coefficient of friction etc. Apart from that, this paper also demonstrates the relative significance of coating techniques in...
This paper investigates the effect of load and speeds (up to 3 m/s) on wear and friction behaviour of PVD deposited CrN coatings on cast iron substrate. Pin on disc tribometer has been used to analyse the wear behaviour of the surface. The temperature rise due to friction was monitored in wear tracks, and higher wear track temperature stimulates higher coating wear as well as degradation of materials. The wear rate is decreasing by the simultaneous increase of load and speed. Introduction Automotive industries are dealing with the various types of losses in internal combustion engine around 70% of total energy used in the frictional and wear losses which are the measure cause of failures in an IC engine and results to decrease the efficiency. Generally, friction loss occurs due to the motion of the engine subparts (around 80% of total loss in the engine) like engine bearings, valves and piston assembly [1]. IC engine assembly consists piston and rings that are mounted at the grooves of the piston while two contact surfaces move concerning one another at a particular load with a sliding velocity the action of movement leads to the wear and tear of the piston rings and liner. Various wear resistant surface coating techniques are used to reduce wear and enhance the life of subparts of IC engine [2]. The coating is done to form a protective layer at the base material or substrate by the Chemical vapour deposition (CVD), physical vapour deposition (PVD) and thermal spraying while PVD is preferred for thin film coating [3]. Tribo-analysis methods are used to characterise the coated component physical and mechanical properties, and the coating thickness and the technique of layer also influence the coated tribological performance of the subparts of IC engine. Tribotest was done at various loads and velocities to an automobile engine of four strokes under both dry and flooded condition by engine oil.

The paper refers to some investigations in electrical spray coating of solid lubricant. The materials used were combinations of polyester and molybdenum disulfide or graphite in various proportions. Aspects of behavior of the coating and friction coefficient for polyurethane/MoS2 and polyurethane/graphite coatings were studied. Experiments for endurance tests (multifactorial plan 33) were performed in order to evaluate the performances of polyurethane/MoS2 and polyurethane/graphite coatings. The conclusions of the experiment permitted the optimization of the input parameters by economical reasons for changing the design and the technologies of powertrains for low power and speed in industry.

The paper includes a number of theoretical and experimental results on plating of several pieces from different classes focusing especially on the pieces of the flanges and housings class. For reasons of confidentiality to beneficiaries, the paper presents experimeindustry at the ends of probe drilling and extraction. Have been taken into account these kinds of pieces in the research due to operating conditions and high requests which occur during operation.

It is very interesting to know about complete combustion in automobile engineering. Because in actual practice, perfect combustion is not at all possible due to various losses in the combustion chamber as well as design of the internal combustion engine. Moreover the process of burning of the fuel is also not instantaneous. However an alternate solution to it is by making the combustion of fuel as fast as possible. Titanium oxide coatings have applications as thermal barriers to improve the efficiency of the engine by reducing energy loss from the combustion chamber. The main aim of this work is o evaluate the effect of titanium oxide coating on diesel engine performance at different engine loads and speed. Experiments will be conducted with four stroke diesel engine. First, this engine was tested under different load and speed conditions without coating. Coating was done on the piston crown of the diesel engine. Titanium oxide layer were coated by using plasma coating method. The titanium oxide coated research engine was tested at the same conditions as standard engine. The results show a reduction in heat loss from cylinder, brake power and brake thermal efficiency increases and total fuel consumption.

In this study, piston and valve surfaces of a Diesel engine to improve exhaust emis?sion and engine performance values, NiCr with bond coat and without bond coat with Cr2O3, Al2O3+13%TiO2, Cr2O3+25%Al2O3 coatings were coated using plasma spray method. By examining the micro-structures of the coating materials, it was observed that a good coating bond is formed. In this study, unlike other coating applications, two different and proportions of specific ceramic powders were coated on the combustion chamber elements, mounted on a Diesel engine, and their effects on engine performance and emissions were tested on the engine dynamometer. For this purpose, the internal combustion engine was operated at 1400, 1700, 2000, 2300, 2600, 2900, and 3200 rpm engine speeds and engine power, engine torque, in-cylinder pressure changes and heat release rate values were recorded. In this study, the that results were obtained by comparing thermal barrier coated engine with standard engine. An increase...
