In this paper the effectiveness of integrative teaching method on senior secondary school students' attitude towards where examined. The sample was made up of eighty (80) SS2 students selected from two intact classes from different schools, where one served as experimental group and the other control group. Mathematics Attitude Scale was used to collect data on the attitude of the students alongside the treatment package for the experimental group and conventional approach for the control group. Data collected were analyzed using ANCOVA and results showed that integrative teaching method had significant effect on the attitude of students towards mathematics in the senior secondary school while gender and the interaction effect between gender and treatment had no significant effect on the attitude of students towards mathematics. It is concluded that the treatment is of main significant to the positive attitude of students towards Mathematics, therefore it is recommended among others that teachers and other stake holders should ensure the appropriate use of integrative teaching approach to bring about positive attitude of students towards Mathematics.
The objectives of this study were to find out the relationship between attitude of senior secondary school student’s towards mathematics and their academic achievement in mathematics, find out gender difference in the students’ attitude towards mathematics.380 sample made up of 247 male and 133 female out of the total population of 27,176 students. The sample was conveniently selected from ten (10) out of the thirty seven (37) senior secondary schools in the study area. The instrument used in collecting the data for the study was Attitude toward mathematics scale (ATM-scale). The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square test of independence and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient respectively. The findings in the study revealed that male students have more positive attitudes toward mathematics than the female students and vice versa. Moreover, the study also revealed that there was a strong positive relationship between attitude towards mathematics and academic achievement in mathematics among senior secondary school students of the study area. The school environment, teacher’s attitudes and beliefs, teaching style, parental attitudes, and peer influence were identified as the main factors that account for student’s attitudes toward mathematics. Recommendations have also been made on how to enhance and promote positive attitudes toward mathematics among both teachers and students.
Students have many different perceptions of mathematics. Most business and athletics leaders will talk about how the individual’s attitude directly affects their performance in the office or on the field. Attitude towards mathematics plays a crucial role in the teaching and learning processes of mathematics. It affects students’ achievement in mathematics. The teaching method, the support of the structure of the school, the family and students’ attitude towards school affect the attitudes towards mathematics. This study looked at how students’ attitudes impact the mathematics performance of the students in the classroom. Five selected school in Katsina – Ala Local Government Area of Benue State were the focus of this study. Students were surveyed by the researcher on their attitude towards mathematics education. The findings revealed that attitude and gender difference have a significant impact in the performance of students in mathematics. It also revealed that positive attitude towards mathematics leads students towards success in mathematics. Attempt to improve attitude towards mathematics at lower level provides base for higher studies in mathematics. It also causes effect in achievement of mathematics at secondary school level.

Effect of Explicit Instructional Strategy on Senior Secondary School Students' Attitude to MathematicsThis study examined the effect of Explicit Instructional Strategy (EIS) on students' attitude to mathematics. It also investigated the moderating influence of gender on dependent variable. The study adopted the pretest-posttest, control group, quasi experimental design. One hundred and ninety-seven senior secondary II students from four public schools purposively selected from two local government areas in Ibadan municipality were randomly grouped into one experimental and a control groups. Instruments used was Students Mathematics Attitude Questionnaire (r = 0.79). Two instructional guides on Explicit Instructional Strategy and Modified Conventional Teaching Strategy were also used as stimulus instruments. Data were subjected to Analysis of Covariance. Treatment had significant main effect on students' attitude to mathematics. Students taught with the EIS had higher post attitudinal score (x = 96.64). Therefore, EIS is recommended to be adopted for the teaching of mathematics.

Students' attitude towards mathematics has been a factor that is known to influence students' achievement in mathematics. The purpose of this study is to find out the students attitude towards mathematics and find out gender difference in attitude towards mathematics in a selected school of West Guji Zone. A total of 300 Primary students were administered with a questionnaire to find out their attitudes towards mathematics. The students answered questions regarding their personal confidence to mathematics and perceived usefulness of mathematics. The results show that the students' positive attitude towards mathematics is medium and there is no gender difference in their attitudes.

Attitude of Nigerian Primary School Students Toward Mathematics SubjectAttitude is an affective variable that can affect the academic life of students significantly. In Nigeria, attitude in mathematics is among the factors influencing performance in maths subject, especially among primary school students. This study aimed at identifying factors that indicate the student’s negative attitude in maths subject. The population of the study is 1,626 from 6 selected primary schools in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano, Nigeria. A sample of 384 respondents were selected using the Krejcie and Morgan table. A Math Attitude questionnaire (MAQ) was completed by the respondents which measure the students affect, behaviour and cognitive aspects. The data collected were analysed using the statistical package for social science (SPSS). The results show that the respondents are experiencing a negative attitude in maths subject. It is recommended that parents and teachers are required to provide some supportive measures for changing the student's attitude. If a...

Mathematics Teaching Method Variables as Predictors of Students' Attitude to Mathematics2015 •
Attitude as a psychological construct has effect on achievement. The attitude of the students can be influenced by the contents and instructional strategies. This study adopted a descriptive survey of the expost–facto type. Four independent variables (lesson objectives, lesson contents, learners’ activities and lesson evaluation) were correlated so as to measure their composite and relative contributions to the criterion variable (student attitude to mathematics). Two instruments were used for data collection from 2490 secondary school students and their 117 mathematics teachers purposively selected from 6 states in south-west Nigeria. The findings showed that the independent variables are strongly intercorrelated whereas their joint contribution (2.5%) and relative contributions to the criterion variable are not significant at 0.05 levels. None of the independent variables could predict student attitude to mathematics under this study. However, they should be taken together in similar studies due to the high level of relationship among them. There are many other variables outside the study that can predict students’ attitude to mathematics. They should be harnessed and incorporated into further studies.
