Assessment of the environmental drivers of European glass eel (Anguilla anguilla) recruitment in transitional watersThe European eel (Anguilla anguilla) has undergone an unprecedented population decline since the 1980s, with current recruitment levels fluctuating from 3 to 15% of historical levels for the last 20 years. Monitoring of glass eels and elvers as 0 + recruitment is an essential step in helping to understand the trend in recruitment and to better quantify the current recruitment time series. Two locations within the Shannon estuary on the west coast of Ireland were monitored for glass eel recruitment from January to April in 2017 and 2018. This study used a generalised linear mixed model to examine a range of environmental variables impacting on glass eel abundance in transitional waters. Results found that water temperature and moon phase were the most important variables. Tidal height and cloud cover also influenced the abundance of glass eels but to a lesser extent. This study found that focussing survey efforts on nights around the full moon when water temperatures exceed 5℃ will a...

A. Foulias, H. Tantawy, An Archaeological-Historical Study for Some Arabic Inscriptions from Cyprus2023 •
The objective of this paper is to investigate a collection of inscriptions that date back to the period of Arab presence in Cyprus. The inscriptions are primarily found in the city of Nea Paphos, with one inscription discovered in the city of Κοurion. This study aims to provide an explanation and analysis of the function and technical characteristics of these inscriptions, focusing on the form and content of the writings they contain. Additionally, this study aims to explore the historical context of the inscriptions by examining historical writings and comparing them with similar examples. The first axis of this study is descriptive, which involves providing a detailed account of the inscriptions. This includes documenting their physical characteristics, such as their size, material, and any unique features. The content of the inscriptions will also be transcribed and translated, with attention given to the language(s) used and any linguistic peculiarities. The inscriptions' placement within the city or specific archaeological contexts will also be analyzed. The second axis of this study is analytical, focusing on the interpretation and significance of the inscriptions. This involves examining the historical and cultural context of the Arab presence in Cyprus and how it relates to the content of the inscriptions. By comparing the inscriptions with other known examples from the same period or region, the paper aims to shed light on their potential function and purpose. This analysis may involve studying the religious, political, or social implications of the inscriptions, as well as any connections to broader historical events or trends. To enhance the understanding of the inscriptions, this study will also draw upon historical writings from the relevant period. These sources may provide additional insights into the Arab presence in Cyprus and help contextualize the significance of the inscriptions. By considering both the descriptive and analytical aspects, the study aims to contribute to the scholarly understanding of this particular group of inscriptions and their historical importance in the broader context of Arab presence in Cyprus.

Since a few years ago, there has been a meteoric increase in the number of databases that are not genuine relational databases, which may be described as exponential growth. No one term accurately describes these kinds of databases; rather, they can only be characterised by a collection of qualities that are shared by all of them, such as the lack of a predefined schema, inherent scalability features, high performance, data, and so on. NoSQL is the acronym that has been used to refer to these types of databases. Many businesses are beginning to see the value of NoSQL databases and are interested in making the transition to using them. On the other hand, they struggle to move their data since the process requires a great deal of research and thought. The nomenclature and query language used with each kind of database is unique to that database. These businesses will be able to effortlessly move to the NoSQL databases of their choice with the assistance of our innovative automated migration approach, which makes use of the power of serviceoriented architecture. We make use of web services that encapsulate some of the most well-known NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Neo4j, and Cassandra, among others. This allows us to conceal the inner workings of these databases while still enabling the efficient migration of data with very little or no prior knowledge of how these databases function. To demonstrate the viability of the idea, relational data was successfully moved from the Apache Derby database to the NoSQL databases MongoDB, Cassandra, Neo4j, and DynamoDB, respectively. Each vendor represents a unique NoSQL database type.
