"A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-ESTEEM AND LOCUS OF CONTROL BETWEEN ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS"Self-esteem reflects a person's overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her worth. It is a judgment of oneself as well as an attitude towards the self. Locus of control is an individual's perceptions about the underlying main causes of events in his/her life. Both these variables have some effect on our daily lives, everyday decision-making, and our overall approach toward life. The researchers hold the notion that selfesteem is regarded among the determining factors in human behavior. It can therefore affect the type of individual's locus of control (Judge TA, Erez A, Bono JE, Thoresen CJ). An individual who feels they can influence their life events enjoy mental well-being such as higher self-esteem and a more favorable quality of life as compared to those lacking sentiments. Whether self-esteem and locus of control are intertwining concepts, is the object of research of many psychologists. Could it be that the feeling of being in control of one's lifewhich is called an internal locus of control, influences self-esteem? Conversely, could the feeling of being in control of one's life go along with the sense of self-worth of a person? Can external locus of control undermine the feeling of self-worth or self-esteem that we experience? Could the relationship be a linear one, or a causal one? The objective of this study was to understand the relationship between self-esteem and locus of control among adolescents and young adults. Data has been collected by researchers from 80 adolescents and 80 young adults. However, on analysis, no significant difference in self-esteem or locus of control has been found between male and female adolescents, male and female young adults, or between adolescents and young adults. However, in correlation studies, we find a significant negative correlation between selfesteem and powerful others locus of control in adolescents; a significant negative correlation between self-esteem and chance locus of control in adolescents; a significant negative correlation between self-esteem and chance locus of control in young adults.

Demographic dynamics and immigration policies high income countries2024 •
Most high-income countries will experience declines in their populations over the next few decades. Some negative consequences of aging are on the horizon: greater fiscal imbalances and risks of economic stagnation. Immigration may be a way for those countries to mitigate the tendency. On the source side of immigration flows, brain drain is a risk. The policy paper presents the case of Japan, a nation that has grappled with the consequences of a declining and aging population for several years, as an example for other countries destined to confront similar circumstances in the forthcoming decades.
