Although foreign body (FB) ingestion is relatively common, ingestion of a toothbrush is rare. We are reporting on a 26-year old female who had accidentally swallowed a toothbrush, which was successfully removed via endoscopy using a polypectomy snare.

Introduction: Ingestion of a foreign body is a common problem among all age groups. Most of the foreign bodies in the pharynx are usually lodged at the level of cricopharynx. The diagnosis is based on history, clinical, and radiological examination. Most foreign-body ingestions are accidental, but there may be contributory factors such as mental disorder, alcoholism, and prison incarceration. Toothbrush ingestion is uncommon and requires prompt medical attention. Case Report: In this article, a rare case of a toothbrush foreign body is presented. The ingestion was caused by a seizure and the toothbrush was removed through surgical management. Conclusion: An ingested toothbrush will not pass spontaneously. The best management is early endoscopy performed by a skilled surgeon. If this is unsuccessful, surgical management can be performed.

Toothbrush swallowing is a rare occurrence. Toothbrush swallowing presents a risk of impaction and perforation along the gastrointestinal tract. This case report describes a 56 year old female that presented to the emergency unit of St Mary’s Hospital Lacor with a 1 day history of chest pain after a toothbrush was pushed down her throat by a traditional healer who was managing her for pharyngitis. The chest pain was associated with difficulty in breathing. She also reported dull abdominal pain. There was no history of vomiting or drooling of saliva. On examination, we found that she was in pain and had respiratory distress with a respiratory rate of 32 breath/ min and was using accessory muscles. There was no oedema, aneamia or jaundice. Blood pressure of 120/80 mmHg and pulse rate of 87 beats/ min. The abdominal findings were normal, but ultrasound scan suggested that the toothbrush was in the stomach. The plain erect abdominal x-ray was inconclusive. She was admitted to the ward f...
This paper provides demonstrable evidence that Manuscript MS408 is written in proto-Romance language and uses proto-Italic symbols for its alphabet, as proffered by the paper titled Linguistic Missing Links (2017). It also pinpoints the date and location of origin for the manuscript, due to the information gleaned by using the prescribed method to translate and transliterate a particular sheet from the manuscript: Tabula regio novem.

The paper discusses a notion that figures in Karl Marx's Capital and is often employed with respect to migration. What I have in mind is the notion of industrial reserve army. I start by discussing the critique of this notion developed by Yann Moulier Boutang in his book De l'Esclavage au salariat. I then emphasize the background of that critique, focusing on the fact that the concept of industrial reserve army is often employed to stigmatize migration. Nonetheless I ask whether other uses of the notion are possible. To this aim I turn to Marx's Capital in order to demonstrate that his understanding of the industrial reserve army is flexible and nuanced. I focus in particular on his analysis of mobile and "nomadic" populations and I end by reflecting on the multiple shapes that the Marxian problematic takes in the present. The concept of "potential labor," often employed in research reports of ILO in recent years, provides an important entry point in this respect.
