On May 12, 1998, Nike's CEO and founder Mr. Phillip Knight spoke at the National Press Club in Washington, DC and made what were, in his words, "some fairly significant announcements" regarding Nike's policies on working conditions in its supplier factories. The announcements received favorable treatment from the press, with a New York Times editorial suggesting that Nike's new reforms "set a standard that other companies should match." Nike's critics were more cautious, expressing concern that Knight's promises represented an attempt to sideline their demands for decent wages and rigorous factory monitoring and replace them with a significantly weaker reform agenda. This report represents a comprehensive examination of Nike's labor performance in the three years after that speech was made. That performance is first assessed against the commitments Knight announced and is then compared with the human rights standards and independent monitoring practices labor rights organizations have demanded of the company.

In October 2016, the Kyrgyzstani parliament passed a new law regulating marriage amidst a growing debate on gender, sexuality, and the integrity of the Kyrgyzstani nation. The amendment, which aimed to tackle the already illegal practices of underage and forced marriage, criminalized involvement in these acts by targeting the practice that in Kyrgyzstan is colloquially called nike, or what might be referred to as a religious or non-state registered marriage. The amendment regulated and recognized nike for the first time. By adopting novel language and using terminology whose meaning differed significantly from common usage, the amendment also subtly religionized nike. The vociferous public debate surrounding the passage of the bill similarly marked nike as something done by the particularly pious explicitly outside of the state’s purview, producing a spurious and politicized reading of the quotidian practice in Kyrgyzstan.

This study aims to examine the uniqueness of the corporate communication carried out by Nike when the well-known brand competes to sign a contract with athletes who reach their peak performance to promote its apparel. However, Nike signs contracts with players when they are still rising stars and then leaves them. Nike does something that well-known brands do not usually do. Normally, they compete to attract stars who are in their golden age. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach through case study research. The materials of this research were obtained by conducting a literature review, matters related to the Nike author's boredom collected from various sources, and reviewed using corporate communication logic. The results of this study indicate that Nike's steps are aimed at creating a new impression without leaving the old self-image.

Meta-analyses of the pertaining literature have shown that General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) in youth and in particular students, is a prevalent syndrome in mental health issues identified in 2022, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, by the World Health Organization and other national organizations such as Santé Publique France. This study, performed between 2022 and 2023, offers a pinhole view on student anxiety in the post COVID-19 context at a French University. A sample population of 80 undergraduate medical students within the age range from 18 to 24 years was tested for GAD in a survey using an online version of the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAM-A). The total test scores indicate a prevalence of severe to very severe GAD in 36% of the sample population, which is consistent with results from studies on larger student populations in other countries. Further statistical analyses reveal a significantly higher number of psychological symptoms by comparison with somatic symptoms of GAD. Reasons why, under the light of the findings placed in the current society context, student anxiety needs to be addressed in terms of a larger society problem beyond the immediate consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are discussed.
