[Reup] This is my essay on an interesting topic – Music. You can find the sample elsewhere online, yet I was not satisfied with that answer, so here we are. The original essay contains no mistake when it comes to the 4 criteria (i.e. Task Achievement, Coherence & Cohesion, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range & Accuracy), so it was graded 8.0+ by an IELTS examiner. He made some minor improvements to strengthen the arguments in order that the essay can reach 9.0 Bandscore. The examiner is working in HCMC right now and he wishes to remain anonymous owing to the confidentiality agreement he signed with British Council. Feel free to read, analyse and distribute the material.

The Music Aural Skills examination in the final year of secondary schooling in New South Wales requires students to listen to music and write about what they hear in terms of the concepts of music. The concepts or elements of music – duration, pitch, dynamics and expressive techniques, tone colour, texture and structure – are at the heart of the Music 1 syllabus, and are also central to the new Australian Curriculum: The Arts. Even though writing about music is one of the most important aspects of disciplinary literacy in secondary school Music, official syllabus documents provide limited support for writing. This article reports on a research project that identifies the most important features of Music Aural Skills answers that achieve marks in the highest range – a ‘Band 6’. Drawing on the resources of Systemic Functional Linguistics, several features of successful writing are identified, including the purpose and structure of an Aural Skills answer, as well as how to ‘make a point’: naming performing media, specifying musical time, describing concepts of music and referring to principles of composition. The findings from this research provide explicit and practical support for teachers and students in writing about the concepts of music.

New archaeological discoveries in sacred places throughout the European Continent s offer a remarkable perspective on the spiritual and social life of ancient Europeans. The construction of the Neolithic (5300-2300 BC) ditch enclosures as 'ancestral arenas' and 'houses of the dead' in the form of funerary long barrows creates a kind of mythical network in the landscape around the holly Mount of Říp (Czech Republic), which developed over a long period of time and whose significance, like England's Stonehenge (Great Britain), endured for several millennia. No visible traces of them remain on the surface today, and so they have been forgotten in recent centuries. But modern archaeological research is re-inscribing them on the landscape map. Neolithic monuments and ritual landscapes thus reflect the social life and cosmology of first Neolithic populations of Europe. They are linked to archetypes from the time of the first farmers, whose mythology survives in the myths of ancient Greece, which are followed by the spiritual values of ancient Europe.

The cultivated strawberry Fragaria × ananassa Duch. is the most important berry fruit crop worldwide. Approximately 4.1 Million metric tonnes are produced worldwide each year. Strawberries are cultivated in more than 70 countries worldwide and the standards required for success in a new strawberry cultivar have changed substantially during the past 50 years. Market requirements and cultural practices have shifted the relative importance of different traits and the main objectives of international breeding programs vary according to the environmental conditions of cultivation, the production systems in this area, and the utilization of fruit. In addition to yield capacity and fruit quality resistance to important pests, pathogens and abiotic stress conditions became more and more important. Particular attention is paid to the improvement of resistance to Verticillium wilt, black root rot disease, red stele, anthracnose and grey mould disease for example. However, classical breeding is still hampered by the lack of effective selection strategies which allow a screening of thousands of seedlings within a few weeks or months. Molecular markers which can help to overcome this problem are only available for a handful of traits. Nevertheless, the number of molecular studies is increasing and the first genome sequence of the diploid wild strawberry Fragaria vesca is available. This and the high number of favourable features have lead to the fact that F. vesca has emerged as an attractive model system for structural and functional genomics within the Rosaceous crops. With the publication of the first linkage studies in octoploid strawberry a milestone has been reached to take classical strawberry breeding to a new level. The availability of DNA markers linked to QTLs as well as cloning of individual genes which significantly contribute to complex traits will be very helpful for breeders to select for a specific introgression of interest.
