Blogs have been popular on the Internet for a number of years and are becoming increasingly popular within organizations as well. The analysis of blog posts is a useful way to understand the nature of expertise within a firm. In this paper we are interested in understanding the topics of conversations that evolve through blog posts and replies. While keywords within blog posts can be used to characterize the topic being discussed, their timestamps permit one to monitor how the intensity of the topic has changed over time.

Abstract Many blog posts deal with current issues, so much attention has been paid to identifying topic trends in blogs. This paper suggests a new metric of selecting topic words. We empirically tested the accuracy and the performance of the metric with a massive blog corpus. First, we created blog site groups to their indegree influence. Second, we ran the metric with blog posts of each group.

ABSTRACT Web logs (or blogs) have become a means for citizens to share opinions and deliberate on local issues. However, the large number of blogs makes finding and exploring content of interest relatively difficult. We developed a tool that displays citizen-to citizen discussion in blogs and reveals some similarity across blog entries. Through association and content analysis, blog entries are linked to each other to form clusters of related local content.

Abstract Weblogs, or blogs are radically changing the face of communication within enterprises. While at the minimum blogs empower employees to publicly voice opinion and share expertise, collectively they improve collaboration and enable internal business intelligence. Though the power of blogs within organizations is well accepted, their properties, structure and utility has not yet been formally analyzed.

Blogs are considered to be powerful and have great political influence. Political blogs have a potential to shape politics, political discourse and political participation. The paper studies how two recent political events about Pan!Hellenic Socialist Movement, are discussed through blogs. It uses Social Networking Theory and Multivariate Statistical Analysis to examine whether political polarization is reproduced in blogging, for the Greek case. The paper also considers how different political events have different impact on polarization of bloggers’ political communication. Findings suggest that polarization is reflected to blogs’ conversational patterns. Debate events are associated with more polarized social networks of blogs.
