Taking the notion of efficacy as a lens through which to observe how gender and mobility have been related in different bodies, and traditions, of literature, the chapter critically charts the varied ways in which the keyword “gender” has been theorized, imagined, and utilized in the study of mobility and beyond. Gradually unpacking the concept of gender in light of its complex relation to mobility, the chapter outlines how, in certain instances, gender itself may be conceived as constituted by different forms of movement. [gender; efficacy; mobility; migration; difference]
