This paper points out critical reflections on water rights and the extraction of hydrocarbons in Mexico, particularly after the reforms of 1995 and 2014. The essay analyzes the construction of the normative framework that, under the discourse of guaranteeing energy security, facilitated accumulation of fossil resources to the detriment of community water rights.

Les rêves, ces événements trop humains qui nous font régulièrement croire que des choses qui n'existent pas existent, possèdent une qualité qui les rend différents de la réalité non-rêvée: ils ont un style. Cela il ne faut pas le comprendre comme si le “style” faisait partie de la substance des rêves mêmes, qu'il existerait à l'intérieur des rêves au moment où nous font leur expérience, au moment même où les rêves sont rêvés. C'est plutôt le discours sur le rêve, les rêves tels qu'ils apparaissent quand ils sont racontés ou mémorisés, qui contiennent une quantité qu'on peut reconnaître comme du style.

Perspectives: Historicity and Temporality of Infrastructure, 2024

Time and history are central to understanding past and present infrastructures from a material and social perspective because infrastructure is tied to both socially embedded and pre-existing material phenomena. Social practice and historical forces converge to play significant causal roles underlying the emergence, maintenance, and permanence of infrastructure. The agential qualities of mechanisms like time and history determine whether a given infrastructure or networks of infrastructures will become durable, flexible in circumstances of transformation, or experience a certain degree of fragility, ultimately leading to their abandonment and destruction. Archaeologists must be prepared to confront the legacies of use and meaning associated with infrastructures and situate them within the unique time-frames of both their durability and the temporality of the actions they facilitated or challenged.
