This is Part 1 of a reflection upon the works of Chris Tilley, prompted by his too-early death in March 2024. I want to do justice to the range and depth, the significance of his work in anthropology and archaeology. My reflections are based on memories, close collaboration, and deep reading of all his writing. His work, now finished, deserves close attention because it deals with matters of wide concern and in such a sophisticated way, dedicated to careful considerationrelationships with environment; respect and acknowledgement of diverse voices; developing secure foundations of knowledge, in experience, modes of engagement with the world, representation and report.

Based on kabbalistic sources, Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum - the Satmar Rebbe -developed a new “money theology.” It differentiated between pure and impure money. Impure money was, for example, that which was earned from Gentiles, heretics, Zionists, or the Israeli government. The theory also explained how to convert impure money into pure money and why it was important to have as much pure capital as possible.
My dissertation project consists of an album of three pieces based on mystical processes and shimmering intonation systems, a series of scores, and a Codex of imaginary illuminated works. I was driven to create these systems to break out of my creative habits and discover new ways of working. This direction was inspired by research on holy numbers and their relationship to temperament and knowledge, Deep Listening, EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon), Infrasound, medieval traditions, and my readings in archaeoacoustics and aural architecture. These studies led to meditations and reflection on sound, the perceptual characteristics of space and objects, and the creative use of these characteristics.

Los pianistas del tango. Milonga, 2023
The present is pre-eminently the age of magnificent gifts to public art institutions, and among the most notable bequests of recent years is that of Baron Adolphe de Rothschild to the Louvre Museum. This wonderful collection of articles of virtu, of which scant information has been sent to America, is now open to the public. Seventeen new apartments in the famous building have lately been equipped for the accommodation of the institution's treasures. These occupy an entire wing on the north side of the structure, and it is in one of these specially prepared apartments that the Rothschild collection, which is estimated to be worth over four million dollars, is displayed. The collection, gathered into one grandly decorated apartment, comprises mainly gold and silver church ornaments dating back from the Middle Ahe’s.
