DECORAZIONE E ARCHITETTURA NEL MONDO ROMANO ROMA 21-24 MAGGIO 2014 Abstract The Architectural Decoration of Southern Thermal Complex in the Villa of Casale of Piazza Armerina: Marble Elements of the Campaigns from 2011 to 2013 Javier Atienza Fuente, Lorenzo González de Andrés Sezione: poster The archaeological excavation work for a decade was held in an adjacent to the famous Villa del Casale field have brought to light a few architectural structures could safely interpret, only after the findings made in recent seasons, as a new thermal complex . The excavation process of this new installation, which has not been completed to date, has provided numerous marble architectural elements, as well as another large set of marble items that were part of the interior decoration of their stays. The qualitative study of these elements has allowed us to identify a large diversity in the marble types used in the decoration of these spaces, as well as the prominence of some varieties over others. Comparing the results obtained in the analysis of the marble elements of the new thermal performed with the rest of the Villa del Casale allows us to infer a number of similarities and differences in the decorative trends of both spaces complex.
