Since antiquity, milk has been considered an important source of food. Milk is a biological fluid obtained from the healthy mammary glands of dairy animals. It is rich in several macronutrients and micronutrients essential for maintaining good health. Mithun (Bos frontalis), a rare semi-domesticated bovine species, is found in mountainous regions, mainly in the Northeastern Hills of India, Bhutan, China, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. It holds significant promise as a nutrient-rich food source with potential health benefits. The total population of mithun in India was estimated as 0.29 million in 2012. Compared to conventional bovine milk, mithun milk exhibits higher levels of protein, fat, solids-not-fat (SNF), calcium, and essential nutrients like calcium, phosphorus, and vitamins A, D, and E, making it a valuable source of nutrients for bone health, tissue repair, and immune function. Mithun milk also contains bioactive compounds like lactoferrin and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which confer antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. These compounds further enhance the health-promoting potential of mithun milk. Although milk of mithun has a lower yield, raising awareness and promoting its consumption could yield significant benefits for public health and rural economies. This review examines mithun milk's chemical composition, nutritional value, and health benefits, emphasizing its significance for rural communities and consumers seeking nutrient-rich foods.
In this article, chalcolithic bone art works of the Southern Levant, the so-called “composite female figurines”, are related to the Genesis prologue. The earth as a living, childbearing organism, the woman created from a bone and Eve’s honorary title “mother of all living” prove to be motives of a “histoire de longue durée”.

This article, a response to Antony Eastmond's monograph Tamta's World, pays particular attention to women's history and identity at the intersection of cultural and religious interactions in medieval Georgia, Armenia, and Anatolia. It highlights the importance of the women in T'amt'a's family-her mother and aunts-in shaping her identity, despite Eastmond's emphasis on the agency of men in this process. I argue that the lives and self-representation of these women were far more relevant to T'amt'a than the numerous examples from various parts of the Islamicate world that Eastmond provides would suggest. The article critically examines the notion of "fluid identities" as applied to the medieval evidence. It does so by considering previous research that has rejected the historicity of Zak'arid/Mxargrʒeli princes' Kurdish origin. Furthermore, it outlines the divergent Armenian and Georgian historiographical traditions on the naming of this dynasty, reveals their sources, and underscores that genealogical constructions and the choice of dynastic monikers were strategies of legitimation. The visual evidence likewise requires nuanced interpretation, as I demonstrate in treating the Axtala Monastery's frescoes. I conclude by emphasizing that research aimed at bridging different disciplines, like Eastmond's, is essential but highly challenging. Its challenges may be partially offset through collaborative efforts among specialists. * I would like to thank the three anonymous reviewers of this article whose comments helped me fine tune the arguments presented here. I am grateful to the journal's superb editing and copy-editing work, a rarity in our age, which has improved the flow and style of writing beyond what I would have otherwise accomplished.

This is a study that breaks new ground in our understanding of the background and genealogy of Wahhabism, both as a dogma and a politico-religious movement. Originally submitted in 1983 as a Ph.D thesis to the University of Washington, Seattle, it revisits the historical, ecological, and tribal context of central Arabia on the eve of the emergence of one of the most vigorous revivalist movements in the modern history of the Middle East. Systematically and thematically organized, the book first offers an illuminating exploration of the geographical and ecological background, followed by a section of historical contextualization that diligently sets out the interplay between geography and tribal structures. The author then proceeds to lay out the unfolding events of the three centuries that preceded the consolidation of the alliance between a religious leader, MuAammad b. 6Abd al-Wahh:b, and a tribal chieftain, MuAammad b. Sa6<d. These same events are clearly shown to be embedded in the nomadic, agrarian, and town settlements of the province of Najd, as well as its immediate environs. In one of its well-argued and well-documented chapters (Chapter IV), the study highlights the central role played by the growth of the population between 850/1446 and 1150/1737 in endowing the Salaf; movement of Wahhabism with a particular character and dynamism. Whereas Najd had lost a considerable number of its settlements and, thus, its settled population, the following three centuries saw a new pattern of migration, resettlement, and repopulation consolidate itself into a permanent feature of central Arabia. However, the growth of this population, based on the cultivation and farming of new stretches of land, did not change the characteristics of political authority, which remained rather primitive and generally incoherent in its methods of governance and tax collection. This gulf between demographic growth and primitive political organization was bridged initially by the development of religious learning through the efforts of Najd; 6Ulam:8 (Chapter V). Thus Al Juhany highlights the importance of viewing the rise of Wahhabism as an integral part of a general religious revival spanning the entire province of Najd. It is in this context that prevalent notions relating to the long-and short-term factors influencing the rise of Salafism as an organized and militant movement must be revised or, at the least, refined in the light of the arguments encountered in this study. Al Juhany offers convincing and reliable data on the steady growth of religious learning in Najd, which was related to a relatively good level of prosperity, leading in the process to a noticeable diversification of economic activities and functions. This is most clearly demonstrated by the increase in the number of religious scholars or 6ulam:8, and the establishment of permanent
