In an attempt to reduce the housing deficit found in Brazil, new construction techniques that are faster, cheaper and with higher quality are gaining space and visibility in the market. Techniques such as the Light Steel Framing system bring the advantages of industrialization to the field of construction, leaving aside the handcrafted constructions of reinforced concrete and ceramic blocks. With the objective of verifying the economic viability of the Light Steel Framing construction method in relation to the conventional masonry method applied in Social Interest Rooms, this work was carried out through bibliographical researches and cost analyzes of each system. However, even at a higher cost than the conventional system, since it is an industrialized system and makes use of prefabricated components, the Light Steel Framing system becomes feasible in large scale constructions and when the cost x time.
