Поэтому открытие сразу нескольких локальных топонимов – всегда весьма важное событие для топонимики региона. В настоящей заметке речь пойдет о нескольких топонимах средневековой Сугдеи (совр. Судак), читаемых в одной из глосс на полях «Сугдейского синаксаря» и введенных в научный оборот М. Нистазопулу. Более тщательное изучение глоссы дает возможность прочесть название Сугдейской горы – Даут.

This paper presents an analysis of the use of multimedia and hands-on models on university students’ understanding of stereochemistry. The relationship between students’ scientific reasoning skills and their understanding of stereochemistry was also determined. Two groups of second-year chemistry students from the State University of Malang taking organic chemistry for the 2020/21 academic year participated in this study. One group of students experienced stereochemistry teaching using multimedia models and the other hands-on models as the learning medium. Lawson’s Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning and Short-Answer Stereochemistry Test were applied. The former was deployed to measure students’ scientific reasoning skills, while the latter was used to test their understanding of stereochemistry. The results revealed that the students’ scientific reasoning skills were significantly below the expected standard, falling in the low category. Students with high scientific reasoning skills exhibited a better understanding of stereochemistry than those with low levels. Both multimedia and hands-on models revealed an equal contribution towards students’ understanding of stereochemistry. Also, it suggests that multimedia models tend to favour students with high scientific reasoning skills, while hands-on models favour those with low skills.
This article examines the historiographical interpretation of Italian infantries during the period from the 12th to the early 14th century by the prominent Italian polemologist Piero Pieri (1893-1979), whose work stands as the sole comprehensive analysis on this subject and has served as a major source of inspiration for subsequent scholars. However, given the passage of 90 years and the accumulation of new research, his work requires revision. Specifically, this article challenges Pieri’s rigid temporal and regional categorization, which separates a superior Lombard infantry of the Swabian era, characterized by militarized citizenry, from an inferior Tuscan infantry of the Late Communal period, characterized by bou-rgeois and peasant levies. This piece rejects Pieri’s criterion for assessing infantry quality in a decontextualized manner and highlights the remarkable homogeneity and excellence of Italian armies in the early 14th century. It asserts that these armies reflect a more cohesive and state-oriented Communal development compared to the more primitive system of the Swabian era. The article also explores the interregional similarity of Italian warfare through mercenarism and underscores the considerable superiority of Italian Communal armies over other European in-fantries in the early 14th century.

Why government supported smart city initiatives fail: Examining community risk and benefit agreements as a missing link to accountability for equity-seeking groupsThis paper utilizes concepts from a critical social justice discourse on smart cities to identify factors behind resistance to new smart city initiatives from equity-seeking groups. The broader critical discourse is examined based on relevance to the eventual failure of the initiatives selected as case studies. It highlights institutional failure within government-supported initiatives due to the lack of consideration given to equitable distribution of risks and formal accountability mechanisms. It describes outcomes surrounding smart cities in which the benefits accrue to some groups within the city while risks increase for other groups. Finally, we examine the integration of “risk” as an adaptation to the existing practical mechanism of Community Benefit Agreements, for use of this framework to support value sensitive design approaches in future smart city initiatives.

The rapid degradation, overexploitation and encroachment of floodplain wetlands have led to considerable decline in fish diversity and production from these invaluable aquatic resources threatening livelihood of the dependent fishers. The climate change evident in the fast few decades have further aggravated the problem of eutrophication causing water stress, sedimentation leading to rampant macrophyte proliferation affecting ecological and economic functioning of these ecosystems. Macrophyte control and management needs serious attention for sustaining ecosystem services provided by these resources. In this direction pen culture of grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella as a biocontrol for macrophytes along with Indian major carps was implemented in a co-management mode in Beledanga, a typical floodplain wetland, a gradually shrinking, macrophyte dominated floodplain wetland in lower Ganga basin.
