Combining documentary sources with the analysis of the survivor, the monograph by Arnaldi and Abdomine specifically analyzes the theme of the introduction of mechanical watches in Ravenna, investigating not only the impact that the introduction of such a novelty had on the reality of the time but also the technical and economic aspects linked to these enterprises. In this context of great innovation, Ravenna also placed itself, albeit with a discrete delay. The public clock of Ravenna was, in the sixteenth century, unique in Italy: it was not simply "astronomical" but actually "astrolabical", in other words, it was a mechanical astrolabe. The first challenge faced by the Authors was aimed at reconstructing the appearance of the public clock built in the early sixteenth century on the facade of the churches of Ss. Marco and Sebastiano established that the one represented in a well-known drawing by Camillo Morigia was not what was planned originally. Thanks to the correct reading of the sources, Arnaldi provides a reconstructive drawing that makes us understand what a great loss the dispersion of that work was. Reconstructive drawings are also proposed for the three simpler abbey clocks.

This literature review investigates how the impact of social media has been studied with regard to a broad range of higher education workplace practices, that extend beyond teaching and learning, into areas such as research, administration, professional development, and the development of shared academic cultures and practices. Our interest is in whether and how the educational research community, through its research and publication practices, promotes particular views of social media in education at the expense of others. A thematic analysis of a sample of recent (2010-17) research on social media in education finds the field influenced by perspectives, particularly the managerial, that are prominent in the institutionalized discourses around which HE is structured. These discourses are largely shaping practice in 21st century education, despite their lack of attention on how social media alter the processes of knowledge development within education, changing practice at deeper, institutional levels. We hypothesize that the implication of such research failing is that the academic community fails to reflectively and critically address how academic practices and the classroom itself are being shaped by certain “institutionalized” uses and conceptions of social media.
The techniques that some large multinational corporations use to reduce their tax liability have come under increasing public scrutiny in recent years, alongside governmental investigations and international commitments aimed at curbing opportunities for tax avoidance. Although discussion of tax avoidance activities, and their regulatory responses, is often conducted with reference to moral concepts (such as ‘fairness’), philosophical analysis of the ethics of multinational tax avoidance remains limited. In particular, the virtue ethics tradition, that emphasises the agent (and his/her character), and the performance of specific roles has not been considered in detail. This paper examines how the contemporary virtue ethics of Alasdair MacIntyre can be applied to the issue of multinational tax avoidance, and considers the role that accountants play in these activities. It argues, firstly, that MacIntyre’s approach provides a more useful philosophical analysis of the issue (when compared to utilitarian and deontological approaches for example), and secondly, that the main parties involved (MNC accountants and regulators) are likely to agree with the main tenets of this approach. The paper also contributes by reconceptualising, using MacIntyre’s scheme, the issue of tax avoidance in relation to Donald Cressey’s ‘fraud triangle’.
