I downloaded this book originally because it was free and because it was a similar style to the books I usually read on my kindle.

If I'm honest, initially it took me a while to get used to the way the book was written. I felt like there were a few words missing in a to of sentences and was written as if spoken by someone lazy who couldn't be bothered to put 'I' 'she' or 'he' at the beginning of the sentence. However, once I got used to it I stopped noticing and became fully absorbed in the book.

I became hooked instantly and could not put the book down until I had finished. I quickly went on to purchase the next in the series and worked my way through them all.

Beth was difficult for me to relate to at first, she isn't like me in anyway and I felt myself shouting out load at the things she does or say. I would go as far to say that I found her annoying and did not understand the feelings she had or her actions. However, as the book went on I warmed to her slightly. Jacob balances her out perfectly and when they were together I found myself liking Beth more and more.

I really enjoyed getting to know Beth and Jacob and watching them go from friends to more. I wish I had a Jacob in my life!

Overall this book was a good read and I enjoyed following both characters through the book. I only wish the paragraphs had been better laid out and the formatting edited slightly. But that doesn't detract from the fact it was a great story.

I found this book to be really enjoyable. Writing was simple but an easy enough story to fall into. My only critical point is being English myself, I found the London parts hard to believe purely because a lot of our "lingo" was missed used, for example knackered means tired not drunk, so saying "the crowd was knackered" makes it sound like they were falling asleep! Other than that enjoyed the story and will read the sequels!

This was a cute read about friendship and first love. Beth is a typical nerd but this brings her best friend to her, Jacob is older than Beth but living next door to each other for 2 years helps them build a beautiful friendship which she wishes was more. When Jacob moves to England Beth is lost without him, but a surprise visit changes everything, long gone is the girl he knew and a woman now stands in her place, but until that kiss he never knew his best friend would be the love of his life. This is a nice story, good plot. The writing is a little different and takes a bit of time to get into. It's sweet how the story unfolds over a few years before they finally get together. It's fairly PG although there are sexual scenes, including their first tine which is over too soon for my liking. Both characters have a good chemistry and banter back and forth. There is some angst but most of all this is about best friends becoming lovers, I'm sure the next books will become more intense but overall a nice read.

if your looking for something explicit and erotic this I s not your book. the book is a teen romance which builds round the illicit love between a rebel and geek. it works well but for me I would rather recommend it to my teen daughter.

This very much reads as YA, which it is as Beth is an inexperienced & sheltered 18 year old. I can see the potential as we follow them through their lives and the other books, hopefully Beth grows in confidence and learns her worth.

They aren't really long but I love the friends/romantic storylines. I got into this very quickly and downloaded the second one soon as I finished the first. Definatly downloading the rest of the series. I think if you love romances then you will like this.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Rock Fiction Romance Gem!

Meet Beth and Jacob. He’s two years older than her and neighbors. She’s a freshman in high school and he’s a junior. She immediately develops a crush on him and he sees her as a best friend and a little sister.

Flash forward to Beth’s high school graduation. Jacob’s moved to London and she’s in L.A. She misses him and concocts a way for her to visit him in London. She convinces Jacob’s mum to let her tag along and even pays for part of the ticket.

Once in London, everything changes. Hot kisses confuse their relationship and Beth’s insecurities cause rifts between them. Will she give into her feelings and fall in love or will she run as far away as possible to avoid a broken heart?

I loved the relationship between Beth and Jacob. Jacob is on his way to living his dream of a rock musician but he’s a real stand-up guy. The author does a brilliant job of alternating the point of view so the reader connects with both Beth and Jacob. We feel what Jacob feels, in total guy-speak too. Impressive for a female author.

This story is a quick read and is filled with plenty of sexual tension. While I don’t mind hot new adult romance, the second half of the book is nothing but hot kisses and Beth’s insecurities.

Speaking of Beth’s insecurities, I found myself rolling my eyes quite a bit towards the end of this book. She’s known Jacob for years and they are best friends. She should have faith in him and know he’s going to be there for her. I recognize she was a shy gal in high school but she’s an adult now and should bask in Jacob’s affection for her.

All in all, this was an excellent first book in a series and I can’t wait to read more from Carla Krae!

If you like rock fiction, new adult and/or contemporary romance, pick up this book right now! Trust me, Jacob will make you swoon.

Favorite Character:

Beth. I can totally relate to her angst about having a crush on an older guy who just wants to be friends. She’s nerdy but in a good way. I loved how she grew into her own without losing herself in Jacob. She’s feisty and keeps him on his toes.

Favorite Quote:

He reached for her hand. “This scares me, too, you know. We go down in flames, I lose you for good.” (Jacob)

Really enjoyed the story line but Beth just seemed way too immature, even until the end of the book. I am hoping things will turn around in the 2nd book

This is the 3rd book I've read written by Carla Krae; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.

Took a bit for me to get into it. Just as I was getting attached to the characters, it was time to start book 2. Book one left off on a cliffhanger with the mom needing unknown treatment, the brother is mentioned rarely but his character seems important and the budding relationship. Not sure when I will be able to get to book 2. Just not sure where the story is going to have a total of 5 books.
