Product Description

This is the synthetic lubricant that consistently outperforms all others currently available. It has incredible low and high-temperature characteristics, which is absolutely necessary for proper clock lubrication but completely lacking in petroleum-based oils. Don't use them on your clocks any longer! Actual oils and lubricant sprays leave sticky deposits when they evaporate over time. Real oil is made up of a mixture of long and short chains of carbon and hydrogen atoms, and under certain conditions the short-chain molecules evaporate, and the unstable molecules oxidize and break down. This leaves a sticky residue which can actually "gum up" the device it was intending to lubricate. Conventional oils also contain impurities such as sulfur, waxes, and unstable hydrocarbons which are left behind as residue deposits. In contrast, synthetic oils are made using a process that re-arranges the structure so all the molecules are uniform in size, shape, and weight, an ideal phenomenon which does not occur in nature. Synthetics are custom-designed to produce the ultimate lubricant, with inherent performance characteristics vastly superior to any petro-oil. Liquid Bearings is also essentially odorless, so your hands and clothes won’t smell like oil after using it. It is perfectly safe to begin using Liquid Bearings on all your clocks immediately, even if you have been lubricating them with conventional oils for years or decades. It is fully compatible with all vintage and current oils, and will eventually flush away the residue of the evaporated real oil over time. You will easily notice that all of your hinges, stem, hands, slides, pendulums, bearings, rollers, and gears will move easier with Liquid Bearings, especially if you have been using petroleum-based oil on them for years. It is completely plastic-safe, and will not harm painted surfaces. The bottle is top-quality LDPE, and the stainless needle allows the application drop-by-drop.

I preface this review by saying I have no experience repairing clocks. Having said that I purchased this oil and watched several You-Tube videos about oiling regulator clocks. I applied the oil as directed in the videos, put the movement back in the case and started the clock. It ran for about 5 minutes and stopped. I removed it a second time and oiled several locations I had missed earlier on the backside of the plate, put it back in the case and started it again. It has run for 2 weeks, shows no sign of stopping and is maintaining good time.

This clock is an inexpensive wall regulator clock from Montgomery Wards with a Korean movement that has not run for about 10 years. The fact that it is now working is a testimony to either the oil or the movement, definitely not my skill.

Lubricates well. Pleanty of oil for the price.

Was a bit concerned when ordering if the application nozzle would reach the deep mechanical recesses of my grandfather's clock. Fortunately it came with two different nozzle lengths, one which is long but very manageable. Does it do the lubrication job intended? Ask me again in ten or twenty years! The clock certainly runs well now.

This had great reviews. I tried it on one of my clocks (mechanism was very stiff, lots of varnish, clock had not been clean from like 1915). Anyway, the oil seems to cut through the varnish and the clock actually started running and doing quite well actually. The clock still needs major cleaning, etc. but I think this proves the oil does work well.

Did it save my train clock with hourly chime. Nope. The oil lubed just fine and I did like the needles provided to lube the clock, but it made no difference as far as performance. I used a minimal amount to just coat the gear surfaces and the hand shafts but the clock still ran slow by a couple minutes per day. I gave up on the movement after this oil failed to help and I used some WD40. I know that WD 40 is a big (((DO NOT USE))) on clocks, but it actually fixed the movement and it ran great for a week or so until the WD40 dries up. Then you have to disassemble the clock & spray it again. Instead of the failed lubrication attempts I contacted Ronell clock company and purchased a new quartz movement & trigger unit for the clock. Now my clock works like new and the train blast it's mighty whistle on the hour every hour! Save yourself some time and hassle. There is no miracle oil that will cure old and tired quartz movement clocks. I was able to purchase a new movement and trigger for the price of less than 2 bottles of this oil.

I restore old clocks for a hobby and this stuff does what it claims. I've used it on several since I purchased it and it stays in place and does not run like some lubricants. Seems to be pretty good stuff.

Total rip off. Performs like WD40 in a bottle.

This was extremely useful for oiling our antique schoolhouse clock but it would have been more useful if they had included some instructions with it on exactly how to use it. As it was, I had to go online to find the proper way and the proper locations to apply the oil.
