With over twenty years of experience in software development, primarily using Python, I’ve been fortunate to turn my passion into a career. But like many of you, my path wasn’t straightforward. My love for programming ignited over a decade ago when I was deeply immersed in video games. I vividly remember the day I decided to mod a Pokémon game I was playing. I didn’t know much about coding then, but the idea of altering the game to enhance my experience was thrilling. After countless hours of tinkering and learning, I managed to change a small piece of code. The sense of accomplishment I felt was indescribable and sparked a deep-seated curiosity about programming. Eager to learn more, I started experimenting with various programming languages. I created small scripts to automate mundane tasks, but I hadn’t yet settled on a specific language. This period was challenging; languages like C and Perl often left me frustrated and doubting my abilities. Everything changed when I discovered Python. In its early days, Python was a humble, somewhat clunky project created by a single developer. But as its popularity grew, a community of passionate developers emerged, transforming it into the powerful language it is today. I vividly recall the moment I began converting my existing code into Python. The simplicity and elegance of Python blew me away. Within months, I was not just coding but also publishing my software in various stores. While my main job focused on creating web applications, Python enabled me to pursue side projects in diverse fields. Having walked the often frustrating path of learning to code, I understand the struggles beginners face. This fuels my passion for teaching and writing.
