I love small town romances, where everybody knows everybody (so don't even think about hiding your love affair,) and the town is full of quirky but loveable townspeople! Theresa Paolo's Red Maple Falls series is one of those series. Red Maple Falls has everything a romance lover can ask for! Small town relationships with a gossip line that puts ATT to shame - check! Quirky townspeople - check out Terry and the Happy Apple diner! But most importantly, Theresa Paolo has packed this series full of love, romantic love, and family love.
Catching Cooper is book four in the series. I found all the main characters to be well-developed and relatable, but I admit I have a soft spot in my heart for Cooper Hayes. Cooper is the Hayes brother born under a wandering star. His personality has always been too big to confine to small town living. So he left home searching for adventure. However, no matter how far he is roamed or how many wonderous sights he saw, something seemed to be missing. It was like a big puzzle piece size hole in his soul. I can relate. I grew up in a town like Red Maple Falls and believed the best view of my hometown was the view from my rear view mirror. Almost 14 years later, with a war on in the Middle East, I returned home pregnant with no idea where my Special Ops husband was deployed and if I might be raising our baby alone. It took a war and the birth of my daughter to realize that there was a lot to be said for a family's unconditional love and a small town where everyone knows your name. Theresa Paolo empathy for family, love, and small town living shines in Catching Cooper. Her characterization of Cooper captures the psyche of a wanderlust personality perfectly. His relationship with Sarah and Tommy brought tears to my eyes.
Theresa Paolo controlled my emotions as I read Catching Cooper. Her words had me crying one moment ,caught up in perfect memories of coming home and finding true love. The next minute, I would be rolling on the ground laughing with Theresa's accounting of Sunday dinners and Grandma Betty's non- filtered demands for great grand babies! Catching Cooper is a feast of feel - good feelings, love, and laughter. Very well written, Theresa Paolo's Catching Cooper is a Must- Read for small-town romance lovers!
