Born in a small town in north central Oregon, H. L. Burke spent most of her childhood around trees and farm animals and was always accompanied by a book. Growing up with epic heroes from Middle Earth and Narnia keeping her company, she also became an incurable romantic.

An addictive personality, she jumped from one fandom to another, being at times completely obsessed with various books, movies, or television series (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Star Trek all took their turns), but she has grown to be what she considers a well-rounded connoisseur of geek culture.

Married to her high school crush who is now a US Marine, she has moved multiple times in her adult life but believes that home is wherever her husband, two daughters, and pets are.

She is the author of a four part fantasy/romance series entitled "The Dragon and the Scholar," the Award Winning (2016 Realm Award for Young Adult Fiction) Nyssa Glass Steampunk series, and MG/Fantasy "Cora and the Nurse Dragon," among others .

I adored getting to step inside the Spellsmith and Carver world again. It’s been ten years since we last saw them battle the impossible and endure their greatest losses to bring them to their present day lives they’ve discovered for themselves. Everything we came to love about them in those past journeys returns to us in this short visit with them. The good-natured jabs between Auric and Jericho have continued throughout the years, a bond of brotherhood created by Jericho’s marriage to Auric’s sister and greater still held by the storms they’ve worked together to endure for family. Jericho is as charming as ever and is as much in love with Rill as he was when we met him at the beginning of their ten-year journey. It’s that devotion to Rill that drives him to make it his mission to come up with the perfect anniversary gift for her, but it unfortunately ends up being more than he anticipated. Yet Rill is as devoted to Jericho as we remember and when their family is threatened they’ll pull together as always and take care of it in typical Spellsmith and Carver fashion.
