WOW, what a wild ride this story was.

The characters were awesome!! I enjoyed reading and getting to know Cyndra, Rune and Zorin.

The storyline was incredible!! The adventures these characters went on was intense and I still have some unanswered questions but the answers will come soon enough in the next book. It's very well written and has a phenomenal plot to the story and I craved to know more!! I highly recommend it!!

Somewhere between a Saturday morning cartoon, and the best video game you will never get to play is this book. The three main characters are all likeable, with interesting plots and mysteries to work through, of which the central romance is the most relatable, but the least interesting. Hopefully future books will keep the strong romance story, but allow the more unusual characteristics take the lead, and emphasise the fun, free wheeling action. (If only to give the guy with the best lines something to do other than tell the two leads to get it together already...)

A great read, leaving me wanting more past the last page. Will volume two answer my questions? What was the real cause of the devastation? Is it when, not if they go into the mirror or will they find a new way to save the others? I’m waiting anxiously for those and many other questions. Jenn Nixon is a gifted author that brings her characters into your mind and home. You live their life and their battle with each page. It’s a wondrous journey.

The preview was good with evenly paced action and quick development. After that it completely stalls, with repeating juvenile arguments. There are occasional battles with soulless and mirror wraiths, but it turns out they keep popping up, the same ones. Aside from the heroine managing to get her cousin imprisoned in the mirror, the story ends right where it was after the preview, with Cyndra, Zorin and Rune sitting around in the lighthouse figuring out what they are going to do about Mergan. There is really nothing to read here. Unless you like the heroine's love interest running around screamin no, don't, while she is kicking the evil baddie very effectively. They don't really have any more useful information, since they can't believe anything Mergan has said. The author also plays games with memories, which changes who people are, and I can't get interested in them if I don't know who they are.

I like Nixon's Tiva Boon series, which though "young adult" is more mature than anything she's written since. Apparently this is more like the awful MIND series.
