Falling for Doctor Drop-Dead Gorgeous: A Feel-Good Romantic Comedy (That Wilson Charm Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 191 ratings

Hazel

Working at Portland Grace has always been fun, until Tanner Wilson arrives—or Doctor Drop-Dead Gorgeous as all the scrub nurses have started calling him. Not me, though. Just thinking about him gives me heart palpitations. Not only is Tanner my brother’s best friend, he’s also my new boss. A boss who looks way too good in scrubs.

To make matters worse, I’ve got to share an apartment with him, all thanks to my stupid brother who offered him our spare room. Ugh. Do you know how torturous is it to watch a hot doc scoop cereal into his mouth every morning and having to pretend he means nothing to you?

Tanner

Being offered Head of Trauma at Portland Grace is a dream come true, but I didn’t count on Hazel Green becoming my new scrub nurse. Don’t get me wrong, she’s good at her job, but to me she’ll always be my best friend’s little sister. Extremely cute, but also extremely off-limits.

As long as I can convince her that I don’t like her at all, I’ll be fine. At least, that’s the lie I keep telling myself.

I had a great time reading this book. This is a really cute and fun brother’s best friend/forced proximity/workplace romance with the hospital and surgical suite settings of shows like Grey’s Anatomy, but a little more fun and a little less angst. There are some great laugh-out-loud moments. Hazel is a surgical scrub nurse. Tanner, aka Dr. Drop-Dead-Gorgeous, and also her older brother’s best friend and her former crush, takes a position at her hospital as a trauma surgeon. This puts them in a position of working together…which makes avoiding Tanner downright impossible. What makes it even more difficult is that Hazels’s brother and roommate , leaving the country on an extended trip, offers his room up to Tanner, so suddenly they are living together too. Hazel faces an uphill battle trying to fight her feelings for Tanner, not to mention the competition of all the single women at the hospital. “Isn’t pining after a guy who every other girl has the hots for kind of…pathetic?” It’s not long before Tanner starts realizing that maybe his feelings towards Hazel are more than brotherly. “What’s this game that Hazel and I are playing? Are we even playing games or am I completely misreading the signs? I’m not even sure if there are signs.” The romance is lovely and swoony. And there are so many funny moments. Hazel’s attempts to lie are so funny, and great fodder for ongoing jokes. She really doubles down on them, and oh, are there ever consequences. “This must be what it feels like to lie in the grave you dug for yourself. Cold. Hopeless. Filled with regret.” The whole Ubi situation, among many others, is hilarious. Hazel and Tanner are both great main characters. There is also plenty of entertainment to be had from the secondary characters, like Hazel’s parents, and other hospital employees. This is a really fun read. This book is the second in a series, but reads well as a standalone. This is a closed door story with innuendo and infrequent mild harsh language.

This was a fun, sweet, low-stress book. Perfect for anyone looking for a 1-2 day read that will make them smile. Tanner is great and doesn’t have an inner monologue that sounds like a girl talking, which happens too often in sweet/clean. Good job to the author for differentiating the inner voices!

When I see the setting for this book. I immediately wanted it’s different than most the books I have read not many have focused on the careers of doctors or nurses and had a hospital work place as a setting so I had to have this one. And It did not disappoint. If your looking for a workplace romance or a brothers best friend this story has both. Hazel is a scrub nurse at Portland Grace she loves her job and is good at it. However Hazel gets a shock one day during a surgery when the new Surgeon has to start early and it’s none than her childhood crush and her brothers best friend Tanner. Who is now her new boss. Hazel has always had feelings for him and now that he’s back in town how will she handle her long time crush working in such close proximity. To make matters worse her brother asks him to stay in their apartment. The story is told rotating between Hazel and Tanner point of views. We get the drama of hospital gossip and several small conflicts but the one thing I love is that it doesn’t stress you out. I couldn’t put this story down it was cute and funny Hazel reaction to Tanner being around her makes you laugh out loud and Tanner reactions ans thoughts about Hazel melts your heart. I can’t wait for the next in the series because I love a good teacher romance. I recommend this read to everyone.

Short and cute but I am wishing for more between Hazel and Tanner. There was a lot of before-the- relationship interaction but I wish there was more after they were together. The conflict with the other doctor came and went I wish there was more. I just wanted more lol
