Frozen Hearts and Death Magic (Of Fire & Fae Book 1) Kindle Edition
Romance, drama, and mystery abound in this upper-YA romantic fantasy for fans of forbidden love, enemies to lovers, family sagas, royal intrigue, and mysterious magic.
A forbidden fae kiss could be deadly.
Naia was raised in the shadow of her twin brother, the crown prince, who has iron magic much more powerful than hers. But Naia has wishes of her own. They awaken when she finds a white fae almost dying in the woods. She only heard of them in stories; the dreaded race that razed cities to the ground, killed her grandparents, almost rid Aluria of humans—until they disappeared. Now, almost twenty years later, are they back? Is there another war coming?
But the fae is evasive and secretive—and also alluring and fascinating, more beautiful than anyone she’s ever seen. And then it happens: Naia kisses him—and nothing will be the same again.
In another kingdom, Leah, a necromancer princess, has to find a husband in less than four days, during the gathering, when royals from all over Aluria meet. Her family makes it very clear that she can pick any prince she wants—except one: Naia’s brother. And it turns out that he’s the one; the one who makes her heart beat faster.
Meanwhile, war looms over the land. One of the kingdoms is amassing immense power. The White Fae might be returning. Amidst it all, Naia and her brother struggle with newfound magical powers, family secrets, and most of all, their own treacherous hearts.
Frozen Hearts and Death Magic is book 1 of the Duology Of Fire and Fae, recommended for readers 16 and up. Now a complete duology.
Trigger warnings: This book contains passages with some phychological abuse and an attempt at sexual assault.

The cover is beautifully designed showing one of the main couples we've got in the book, Naia and River, not only the cover is beautiful but is connected back to the story's plot. To be honest, the blurb made me pick it up after the cover as the premise sounded so promising to me when I was in search of a YA fantasy romance book. It was the first book I read by author and hopefully, it wouldn't be the last one. At the beginning of the novel, Naia's character enchanted me due to her inner monologue, whereas Fel's character managed to swoon my heart away as a lover and a brother too. Whereas for Leah, I was mostly heartbroken or angry for her.
There were different revelations that took place and I'd say they were somehow predictable, yet they didn't affect the story for me. Overall to say, most of the foreshadowing in the book were done through the intriguing magic system and the unique world building. The character of Naia for a few moments in the book reminded me of Princess Analia from Kingdom Of Masks and Mourning by Abigail Erhardt and Karmuth from Fairies Of Death by Victoria Liiv.
Okay enemies to lovers is a home-run for me!
Loved the characters ( Naia, River, Leah and fel) ahh 😌
The magic system is well defined and i loved reading it!
The dual brewing romance is like cherry on the top!
I love to read Multiple POV’s as well and Author Day has laid out the Pov’s smoothly.
Definitely read it if you want some fae love ! Wherever there is fae there is me !
The characters were amazing! Right from the main characters to the supporting ones, each well written and vital to the plot. Don't ask me to choose a favourite character because I loved them all!
The world-building was descriptive. The politics, locations, history of the kingdoms and magical abilities were given in detail, which made it even more interesting. My favourite part of the book was the suspense. There were many secrets at the start and each one unraveled as the story progressed.
Usually I'm not a fan of stories that use misunderstandings and lack of communication tropes to steer the romance, but I make an exception in this case because it helped the plot greatly and was written in a unique manner.
Overall, this was a fantastic read, and I'm eager to get my hands on the next book. I recommend it to all the fantasy lovers who enjoy some romance and lots of twists and adventures.
Note: This book has some trigger warnings so please check them out before you start reading.
Sometimes even fantasy can be relatable and realistic than the reality and this is one such book. I totally got invested in the setting, plot and characters that I didn't mind reading such a huge chunk of a tome.
Thank you so much @thebookscenestours for the review copy and a wonderful opportunity to be a part of this Blog tour and thank you @day_leitao_ya for writing a masterpiece 🖤✨ I really can't wait to read the sequel. I want to know more about their world and hopefully a huge battle.

But as the story progressed, it started getting chaotic. Naia and Isofel were solid sibling characters and the only relationship I enjoyed reading. We get introduced to romantic interests for the main characters but the relationships ended up getting toxic. The subtle abuse was just as worse as the direct physical abuse.
The story had multiple POVs which gave us insight into every character and their troubles. I enjoyed that a lot. But at the end, it was not the book for me sadly.
