Terrier Herds Sheep in the Wildest Way & People Can't Get Enough

There's some bonds between animals that just can't be explained. And there's no real explaining what's going on with the hilarious way that one Terrier herds her sheep. The dog certainly has her own style. And people on the internet can't get enough.

How? More importantly, why? We have to know the backstory on these two. This is the coolest trick, but we have to know how it came to be.

Animals are pretty cool sometimes. We don't know how the Terrier learned to get on the sheep's back (or why the sheep allowed it), but we're so grateful that she did. It's the craziest trick!

The dog took herding sheep to a totally new place by riding the sheep's back like she was a surfboard. But don't worry, the pup was keeping a close eye on the other members of the flock. She kept turning her head to check on them. Welp, we guess that's one to get the job done.

"Connie and Diane the icons," their owner joked in the caption.

People in the comments section couldn't get enough. "Oh to be a tiny dog riding a sheep," wrote one commenter. "I thought the pup was riding some ramen for a second," another person joked. "Going to sleep cause I want to dream of that," someone else kidded. "If work smarter, not harder were a doggo," chimed in another commenter.

Best Herding Breeds

Some dogs have the knack for herding. In fact, you could definitely say they were bred for the job. It's instinct really. Here are just a few of the different dog breeds that can do the job right:

Australian Shepherds are smart dogs, which helps when trying to get sheep from point A to point B. These dogs are fast learners and have lots of energy, which is needed for the job.

Border Collies are another breed that can work and work (and work). As family dogs, Collies can be very gentle. But as working dogs, they are eager to please and are fast-thinking.

Another breed perfect for farms or ranches are Catahoula Leopard Dogs. These athletic dogs are agile, have a lot of endurance, and an excellent sense of smell. Catahoulas are very serious about the task they're assigned and will work steadily until the job is done.

If you're looking for a small pup with tons of energy, Pembroke Welsh Corgis make up for their tiny size when herding. Their size makes them agile and quick to weave around much larger animals. As family dogs, Corgis are simply the best!

Unfortunately, we don't know if any breed specifically herds like this Terrier does. But we'll certainly be keeping a lookout.
