Craig Alanson is perhaps my favorite author of all time. His books are amazing and well written while filled with a lot of humor and deep insight into pop culture. First strike was an amazing listen. And once more R.C. Bray just NAILED the narration keeping me well engaged for the full 16 and a half hour long story!! I can't wait for Expeditionary Force: 16 here in December which will be Craig's next book :)

Story
The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.

Good story but ends a bit flat
Reviewed: 08-12-22
The story was good but it at times felt a little slow (but then he was gathering all the pieces and putting the plots together) but in all it was pretty solid and once more well written. The performance from R.C. Bray was once more spot on and great! But I sadly must say I felt the ending was a bit flat. Yeah they defeated the enemy main enemy but didn't resolve how they would truly protect them self from all the rest. On top of that it just sort fizzles to the end before our heroes really have a chance to do the normal Celebration it's just "Yey we won now we go home... The end" That kind of did let me down quite a bit personally.

Story
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

While this book might not have been my first choice as it's not normally the genera I listen to. I have been enjoying Craigs books since Expedition force book 4 (as in how fare the series had gotten when I found it and got book one :P) Duke steal the show just about every time he opens his doggy mouth and Wolf is a great character rights from the start. It should be noted that as of this review I am only about 4 hours into the book but it have had my attention right from the start with Craigs awesome way of telling a story and making it interesting. AND of cause it is preformed beautiful by Bray like always!

For years, the ancient alien AI known as Skippy (the Magnificent, don’t forget that part) has been able to do one impossible thing after another. What is his secret? It’s simple: 100 percent Grade-A extreme awesomeness. And also because he had never been faced with an opponent of equal power. Until now. This time, he might need a little help from a band of filthy monkeys.

Good but not the best in the series.
Reviewed: 10-06-22
Like rest of the books in this series it's pretty solid and R.C. Bray is once funny and awesome in his narration. The story do suffer a bit from being the second last book in the series. Sometimes it just feels like it slogs on and on and on. While at other time so much happens at once that it feels almost overwhelming. As mister Alanson is rushing to tie up all the loss ends and set the stage for the final show down in Book 15. (Which I am SOOOOO Looking forward to!)

The story is interesting and it is entertaining to listen to though at points the Narrator fails big time specially when expressing Female characters that often sounds even more masculine then most of the male characters.

It’s been two weeks since a missile with a nuclear warhead tore through the planetary defenses in the most blistering large-scale attack ever committed in the history of the Gaia system. Commander Dunstan Park of the Rhodian navy has been handpicked to command an experimental cruiser that could dictate the course of the escalating conflict. All he has to do is keep the ship from falling into the wrong hands.

I had been looking forward to this book sooo much since as I loved the two former books in the serie... But since this one was released I have been struggling to listen to it.. The new Narrated are just AWFUL. He mispronorses so many words and his female character voice are just offensive.. Making all of them sound like Tenage girls from a 90's sitcom. I am sorely tempted to return this book as I doubt I will ever get to complet it.

The Merry Band of Pirates offered the bad guys a ceasefire. We won’t mess with them, if they don’t mess with us. Easy, right? No. The aliens chose to do things the hard way. So, the Pirates are racing around the galaxy to clean up the threat to Earth. The infant UN Navy has their own mission with the Alien Legion: Get humanity some allies in the fight. And the Ethics & Compliance Office might have to do something...ethical. Unless they can find a way around it.
