A must read for all with an interest in a sustainable future (hopefully everyone?). Valuable mythbusting and updating of the big picture. Recommended as a primer for navigating what we know and where we need to get to on sustainability. Full of pragmatism, realism and hope informed by good information and points for action - inspired by Hans Rosling's Factfulness. Thank you, Hannah Ritchie. Already recommended to many!

Strongly recommend to anyone interested in understanding the highest impact actions we can take to limit/reverse climate and ecological breakdown. An enjoyable listen too - evocative, interesting, hard-hitting.

A brilliantly explained guide to the pitfalls of economics (read life) as we know it and a powerful manual for the starting points to the solutions. Of course we can find more depth and analysis elsewhere but this book does a brilliant job of scope, synthesis and balancing different approaches to complex existing issues around our combined social, economic and ecological challenges which face us all in the 21st century globalised world. Your mind will be a richer place for reading. And we will all be better primed for action and intelligent dialogue for getting our heads around these issues. Thank you, Kate Raworth. I hope this soon makes it onto the school curriculum too.

The most important book I have encountered in a long time. Rosling clearly explores the misconceptions and facts of the world we think we know, how we see it and what the numbers and evidence tell us about how it actually is. He outlines the distortions of perception that shape the way we see world issues from population to disease to climate change, and provides sage approaches for how we can face our big challenges in education, policy and daily life. This is an antidote to the world of sensationalism, fake news and ideologues. A guide for everyone but definitely essential reading for educators.

As a teacher and indeed human being in general I can't recommend this book enough. This is such important and exhilarating research and the way Amy Cuddy combines the personal with the academic research is so informative and powerful. It's helped me and my students (I believe) and having seen the TED talk, I definitely found it helpful to get a deeper insight into the stories and research that tell us how much the body speaks to the mind. I hope we keep spreading the word :)

Controversial, hard hitting and evocative. This book helped me to think about and better understand some of the big issues of the world we are living in. Great follow up to Sapiens. Hararri explores some of the prejudices, assumptions and directions we all need to have a better understanding of. Great read.

What did you like most about Humanizing the Economy?

This book has changed the way I see the world. Its rich exploration of cooperatives across the globe is handled with an accessible and always deeply human perspective. It is balanced and thorough but never closes its eyes to the fact that these stories are about real people and their experiences. It travels across continents with its rigorous and thorough analysis of each case explored and gives a clear history of the ideas building into cooperative economies and suggests limitations and possibilities to be explored in the future.

Despite being totally new to economics, I found this book fully accessible; wise and insightful without being preachy. Thanks John Restakis, you've given me new eyes. This is a discussion of economics with a soul.

Who was your favorite character and why?

N/A

What about David M. Adams’s performance did you like?

The performance was clear, strong and easy to follow.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Bit too heavy for only one sitting, but a book I was keen to tear through.

What did you like most about Justice: What's the Right Thing to Do??

Sandel challenges and engages the listener and also presents a clear, broad picture of the philosophy of modern values. Fascinating, clear and accessible. Sandel cuts through the field to offer a logical walk-through of the philosophy behind the principles of justice. Highly recommended from both an academic point of view, and a personal one. Sandel questions to provoke real thought about your own personal values as a reader, at the same time as remaining clear, balanced and critical in his coverage of the different philosophies and case studies explored.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Uhm... Jeremy Bentham's head? Undoubtedly a character.

Have you listened to any of Michael J. Sandel’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It's more accessible in chunks.
