Summary
Five. That’s how old I was when I picked up a ball for the very first time during flag football—something my mom had signed me up for.
Nine. That’s when I decided I’d stop at nothing until I played football at the highest level.
Fifteen. That’s when my father informed me that the only future I had was working at his private investigation firm.
Seventeen. That’s when I tried to escape the future that had been laid out for me. Tried to cut all ties that connected me to my own blood. Spoiler alert: It didn’t work. They still own me.
Eighteen. That’s when I was told if I completed this one job, I’d be cut loose. Free. I’d finally be free. It seemed easy enough.
Then, I meet her. You know, the one who makes you do all kinds of stupid, wacky stuff because you feel things you’ve never felt before. Yeah…that’s the one.
Here’s the real kicker: What happens when the girl you’ve likely already fallen in love with is the one you need to betray in order to leave behind a life you can’t stand?
Well, that’s a damn good question. I’m dying to know myself.
*This is a stand alone novel in the Brooks University series. This is Sloane and Knox's story.

An epic love story with an even more epic grovel!
Knox and Sloane's story is fast, hot, and at times, heartbreaking. Being that their start is built on deceit, I didn't have much hope for them. I kept hoping that Sloane would figure Knox out sooner rather than later. I craved the drama/angst that it would bring. Alas, it was not to be.
We get almost 3/4 through the story before chaos breaks out and Knox is forced to his knees. Our boy has got some spectacular grovel game though! He has to wade through not only Sloane's defenses but her parents protectiveness as well.
Sloane's character is just as she should be considering how she grew up. She is sheltered and ridiculously clueless. However, she's brilliant and independent. A juxtaposition that makes her so endearing and lovable. Knox is just as lovable but in different ways. The ways he's had to fight to get to where he's at is sad. Wanting to be his own person but also please his dad has gotten him into a unenviable spot.
The last plot twist was a big one for sure. I honestly didn't know what to think of Sloane and Knox at that point. I think Sloane drew out the situation too long and I felt really bad for Knox.
The narration on this book was FLAWLESS! Erin did an amazing job with Sloane's southern accent. Joe, as always, was perfect. He nailed Knox's personality, in my opinion. His dirty talk was…incendiary!

Very enjoyable
I absolutely Loved listening to this story from Hannah Gray.
It was a story that surprised me,I never expected it to go the way it did.
Sloane and Knox are hot and heavy with eachother quite quickly, but their relationship is built on Lies deceit and betrayal.
All's Knox wants to do is play football, and Not go into the family business,so his father gives him an ultimatum.
He can pursue his football dreams if he gets to know the daughter of a man he wants to send to prison,to get information from her.
Sloane is just a girl who wants to go to college and be free from her parents strict restrictive rule. She wants to discover her independence and find out who she is.
Of course nothing goes to plan Knox falls for her she falls for him and all plans to array.
Sparks definitely fly between them but the secret is a burden hanging over them.
This is a sweet, funny, romantic and sexy story.
I Loved the banter between all the characters it was so much fun.I
I also loved the way Knox never tried to hold Sloane back she could be her authentic self and come out of her shell with him.
Joe Arden and Erin Mallon are a listeners match made in Audiobook heaven.

Loved this!
Shy Sloane heads to university to start a new life away from the restrictions and expectations of home. Quickly finding a wonderful friend on her roommate, Ali, Sloane has life opening up for her. Knox has come to Brooks uni under pressure from his father, and Sloane is in his sights. This is the start of a relationship with shaky foundations!
I loved how Sloane and Knox grew as a people and their characters were captured beauty the quality talents of two wonderful narrators, Erin Mallon and Joe Arden. Fabulous listen 💖💖💖💖💖

Sloane and Knox!
Knox’s plans for the future include going to college and playing professional football however his father’s plans for his future include him taking over the family business. His father agrees to allow Knox to pursue his own path if he does one assignment for him. This brings Sloane into his life but he didn’t expect to like her let alone love her.
Sloane knows that her parents love her, but she also feels emotionally estranged from them. Attending college is a fresh start and between her roommate/best friend Ally and her deepening relationship with Knox she is enjoying her life however not is all as it seems.
Both Knox and Sloan are in a difficult situation which will have you feeling for both of them as they struggle to overcome the less-than-ideal beginning to their relationship and find the happiness they both deserve. The narrators were a great match not only for the characters but for each other as they brought out all the heat, humor and heart of the story.
