Enduring strength
Revisado: 06-09-24
I enjoyed the story very much. At times the audio was strange buy it only lasted a short time. The narrator is very good and she will be added to my list of preferred narrators. The story line was very interesting. A bit gruesome at times but you expect this with this type of book. The ending kinda dropped the final moments of Ace and Spirit but I am assuming they both are ok.

Historia
Imogen, captain of the Irish charter boat, Mystic Pirate, has little time for friends and doesn’t trust her lovers. Perhaps the real issue is that she can’t trust herself, as she hasn’t yet found a good explanation for why otherworldly images dance before her eyes. Half-convinced that she is one step away from losing her mind, just like her mother, Imogen prefers to spend her life at sea with the only family she knows—her crew members.

Eh, it is ok
Revisado: 12-17-23
The story was just alright. There was the basic components and it was interesting enough to keep at least somewhat listening. However, it wasn’t compelling enough to read the next book. Also I am not a fan of sex scenes. There was a time where they didn’t bother me but now I appreciate more substance of story with compelling romance rather than heaving bosoms and throbbing members. Also the narrative was just ok also. The switching back and forth was a tad jarring. Someone, either Imogene or Nolan always sounded angry. If it was the male narrator then Imogene came off as a shrew. If it was the female then Nolan sounded like an angry bully. They at least didn’t hurt my ears.

So intense
Revisado: 07-30-23
I loved this book by Nota Roberts and the narration was spot on. I would get cranky when something interrupted my listening time and I had to leave this world Nora created for a while. I highly recommend this book to anyone. The amount of romance, tension and danger was perfectly balanced. Now I don’t know what to listen to. I have been ruined by too good of a story until I find the next one. I need something to clear my brain palate so I can enjoy the next story. I even envy those getting to start this story for their first time.

I love this series and the narrator does a pretty good job with the voices. Each book has a good HEA so you can stop anytime. However, I suggest you start at the beginning since there is an ongoing storyline. Another great listen.

Good but leaves you hanging
Revisado: 05-08-22
I enjoyed the story very much. The production was wonderful and you need to listen on good headphones. I kept thinking some of the sound effects were my cats making noises. Instead it was things happening in the book, it really was a 3D effect.
All of the narrators were great. They all did a fantastic job on the story. They didn’t speak too fast or slow and their voices were not grating in any way.
Yet I feel as if I spent my precious credit on what really totaled a 3.5 hour story. The last 30 minutes are all end credits. Then between each chapter were long pauses and musical interludes. So I am left feeling rather ripped off and now I am wondering when they will continue the storyline. However, the next book I will just purchase since I have a feeling it will be less than the cost of the $15.00 credit.

Boring
Revisado: 01-12-22
I barely made it to the third chapter. The author was more interested in showing off her new “mountain climbing” language than she was in creating a story you can follow. Plus the perspective so far has been from the main male character yet it is a female narrator. There just wasn’t the cohesion and ability to follow the story line there should have been.

I love stories with strong, resourceful women and this one didn’t disappoint. There were a couple of inconsistencies in the story, especially during the action scenes but nothing tooo horrible. I am going to start the next novel now. I also like the narrator. She is easy to understand and does a pretty decent job and providing male voices. If you like Kate Rudd you will like Eva Kaminski

Not Karin’s best work
Revisado: 01-03-19
I fell in love with Karin Slaughter when I read Kisscut many years ago and have followed her since. This story however I found annoying in so many ways. However the most important was the very weak and pathetic character. I was so sick and tired of having to listen to the daughter whine and be indecisive and just plain stupid. Just could not find any enthusiasm for the storyline. I would fall asleep listening to this book and would wake up hours later not feeling as if I really missed anything. I just couldn’t finish it. When I started yelling in my head I DON’T CARE! I knew it was time to delete from my device and move on.

Horrible
Revisado: 05-09-18
I am so glad this was a free download. I was looking for a book about a great horse. What I was listening to was a non-stop, barely take a breath, namedropping history on horse racing in general and then the backgrounds of people, stables, other horses, bloodlines etc. I got to the 6th chapter and American Pharoah was still a yearling and the amount he had been actually mentioned wouldn't have filled a decent sized chapter. However, Joe Drape certainly attempted to prove he did some research on the history of horse racing and who owns what stable, who owes who money and how the big stables in KY are now owned by people overseas. How nice. By the way, most experienced horse people no longer use the term "breaking" a horse. I just couldn't finish it.
