I like the story but the narrator sounds like he’s talking thru clenched teeth, and drops his voice at the end of every sentence.....soooooooo annoying! Every sentence is the same tone with his voice lowering at the end, unless it’s a question. Get rid of the speaker and the book would be awesome! I’ll never listen to another book narrated by this guy again!!

Okay, after starting the book "In the Company of Cheerful Ladies" I couldn't listen anymore. Something about the way the reader was pronouncing the name of the two ladies in the story. I went back to the story after reading a review and found out that the way the ladies names were actually written, she was pronouncing them correctly. I continued to listen to the story and somewhere in the middle, I started to actually like it! When I finished the story, I kept thinking about it and saying phrases and names over in my head. That's when I knew that I needed to hear another one. Needless to say that I've recently purchased two more books on CD so that I can listen and share with my friends. I'm glad I gave the book a second chance.

Very interesting! I still wonder how this guy is alive today. Made me want to listen to the music to see what he was talking about. Good book!

What a waste of a credit

I agree this book is booooooooooooring! So far no plot; she finds a man under her bed but does nothing more than wonder, and spends more time concerned about making tea, this is a detective agency right? The over-exaggeration of the Mmmmmmmadem and the other lady's name drives me nuts! I'm on chapter 5 and still shaking my head, but I think I'll finish it just to see if there really is any plot or if she decides the guy under her bed (with no pants) is worth pursuing.

This is a terrific book! Even though some might say that his life of crime is criminal (no pun intended), the descriptions, the characters, the voices and the intensity he puts into the book is wonderful. It's a huge book, but I'm starting it over (yes all 40 hours of it) so I can relive his life, his decisions and his friendships. It's worth the money.
