Historia
Teenager Amanda Castle was like a lot of people, posting pictures of her everyday life to a variety of social media sites. Not everyone who viewed her pictures was there to share in her experiences. One was there to steal her profile pictures. A terrorist in Frankfurt was desperate to please his leadership. He planned the perfect attack, one in which vulnerable people would be invited through social media to participate in a flash mob. There, the unwitting participants, thinking they were taking part in a random act of kindness, would find themselves engaged in a random act of terror.

Couldn’t put it down
Revisado: 07-29-24
I loved this audiobook. Great characters, fast pace, tight plot, somewhat predictable but perfect ending. I loved that the teenage girl had a kind soul and wasn’t an a*hole to her father. I loved that even though there were three groups of people on a collision course, the plot constantly moved forward instead of bouncing back and forth… I loved the narrator. Loved everything about this book!

Ending stinks
Revisado: 05-22-24
This book in the series is a little repetitive. Too much romance for my taste. Ends in the middle of a sentence. Come on.

Too many side stories, wsy wsy way way too many people to keep track of, wsy too hard to follow … the ending was one guy pulling together everything that happened over the 34 hours - I had no clue who all the people were he was talking about. So complicated so long…. Despite all that I listened to every word. Not sure how it kept my attention but it did.

Historia
Behind the tall, foreboding gates of a commune in Brazil, Daniella Mestyanek Young was raised in the religious cult The Children of God, also known as The Family, as the daughter of high-ranking members. Her great-grandmother donated land for one of The Family’s first communes in Texas. Her mother, at thirteen, was forced to marry the leader and served as his secretary for many years. Beholden to The Family’s strict rules, Daniella suffers physical, emotional, and sexual abuse—masked as godly discipline and divine love—and is forbidden from getting a traditional education.

This book goes Beyond the cult years
Revisado: 04-11-24
Every book I have read about growing up in a cult ends shortly after leaving the cult. This author takes you decades further. She talks about her experience in the military and the similarities between her upbringing and the military. Really interesting. I found this book really impactful.

She had no choice in the matter - none of the girls did. Her mission was to give birth to and raise many children in devoted service to a shared husband. Susan was 15 years old when she became the sixth wife of Verlan LeBaron, one of the leaders of a rogue Mormon cult, who was engaged in a blood feud with his brother that from 1972 to 1988 claimed up to two dozen lives. In this gripping and eloquent book, Susan Ray Schmidt tells the story of growing up on the inside and of her ultimate escape with her children from an oppressive and violent life.

Overall good read
Revisado: 10-19-23
This book was a bit too long but overall worth the time to read. There really are people like this. I never heard the story of a child bride who loved and accepted her husband from the start. That was interesting.

I was hoping to learn a lot about ramsomware but the book is primarily about the ransomware hunter(s). Started off slow but picked up as it went along. Worth the time to read.
