Reformation story with solid ending

This is the first book I have listened to by this author. I was expecting the focus to be more on the romantic aspect of the story but was surprised. This book focuses more on the characters development through their lives and with each other. The first 2/3 of the book you alternate chapters between the past and present. I preferred the end where it was all present tense. I also wasn’t expecting the book to be so religious forward. I am not sure if all the authors books are that way and maybe I should have known before listening but if you are not Christian this book might not be for you. It is well done but does speak about “being saved and living for god” often through out the story. I didn’t not mind but was taken off guard.

Great mystery/romance

I have enjoyed all the novels in this series. I think was a good continuation and the mystery kept me more engaged than the others. It was a different narrator than the first two which always throws me off for a minute but I came to enjoy this particular narrator as well. Overall it was an enjoyable listen!

Very enjoyable

I loved this story! If just stumbling upon it I would listen to the book five kisses first; although this book can stand on its own some of the characters are first introduced in that story. Both of the books are funny and very enjoyable to listen to. I have listened to so many regency type romance books as they are one of my favorite genres and I would listen to this again.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this novel. It had some predictability as they all do but it also had parts that kept me on the edge of my seat. I would listen to it again! Some of the things the lead female does are incredibly inappropriate for the time but I think that is part of her charm. I have listened to books narrated by this narrator before and have come to enjoy listening to her! I think overall it was really well done and the chemistry between the characters was excellent.

Horrible

I cannot believe the amount of good reviews for this book. It was one of the worst regency romances I have listened to; and I have listened to A LOT. Literally nothing happened the entire book. It was so repetitive talking over and over again about the characters struggles. The chemistry was also lacking for me between the two leads. I barely made it through just thinking it had to get better. It did not. Narrator was adequate.

Disappointed

The narrator I have heard before and I think she does a fine job! She does take some getting used to but I enjoy listening to her.

This story however I did not care for. I thought the heroine was extremely annoying. One second she is so shy and timid and the next she is acting like a child and being revengeful dyeing his clothes black without proper provocation. I didn’t think there was much chemistry between them and the overall plot of the story was uninteresting and scattered. I usually love regency romance but this was definitely towards the bottom of my list. I could barely finish it.

Underwhelmed

Usually when there are multiple 5 star reviews and just one negative review I tend to find that I agree with the people who enjoyed the book. I think I am fairly easy to please and not too critical as I love this genre. However, I did not end up liking any of the characters in this book much. I felt like none of them were very endearing and I agree with the review that said the heroine wasn’t likable. The entire book is basically a gentle women turned companion that is constantly negative and surrounded by troublesome negative characters. Nothing lighthearted, flirtatious, funny, or romantic about this book. I usually listen to books over and over but I don’t think I could get through this one again. It does have a happy ending and nice resolution just not worth all the blah to get there.

The narrator however did a great job and was pleasing to listen to.

Listened more then once!

I really enjoyed this book! The characters were well developed and there were a few little surprises in the story that kept me interested! I have listened to it more then once I liked it so well. The narrator is fabulous in my opinion. The only criticism I have is that sometime the characters are a little repetitive in their musings but not enough that I would not purchase again without hesitation.

Underwhelmed

I want to start by saying that I did mostly enjoy this story and the resolution. The narration was well done and I appreciate the character development.

But overall it is not one of my favorites and I do not think I would listen to this again. I felt like the story dragged on and had too much internal dialogue of the main character. I also disliked the brothers being so much at odds with each other the entire novel. I didn’t love the conflict between the main character and the brothers and her indecisive nature of which brother to choose. Also she seemed to have a little bit of a victim complex which did not endure her to me. I do not think I would have used a credit on this book if I had known the contents before hand.

Love the character development

I enjoyed all sally britton books it seems! After the Inglewood series I wanted to listen to more books from this author and have enjoyed them all. They are wonderfully written. I loved this story and found the characters relatable and likable. I will continue to listen to all books of sally Britton and the narrator is also fabulous. Well done!
