Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

While not King's best novel, Will Patton's reading

is masterful. I forgave the rambling narrative by closing my eyes and listening to the cadence and personalities Mr. Patton brought to the many characters.
(When I say "closing my eyes" I was at home and not listening while driving!)

I'm having a tough time getting through this
Revisado: 03-13-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Not sure because of the narration. The rendering of the male characters is horrible.
What could Hilary Liftin have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Can't answer because of the awful narration.
Would you be willing to try another one of Ariadne Meyers’s performances?
Not based on this book.
What character would you cut from Movie Star by Lizzie Pepper?
All the men, but then there would be no book.
Any additional comments?
This is one book that might have been an easy summer read in print. Listening to it is an ordeal. Not sure if I'll finish.

2 stars overall -no stars without Rene Auberjonois
Revisado: 11-06-16
What disappointed you about The Obsidian Chamber?
Boring and pointless. I checked the elapsed time and 2 hours were spent over a minor character wandering over the globe. Constance is not a mystery woman. She is self-indulgent and whiny. I would say not enough Pendergast, but when he does appear he's nothing like the character we've become fascinated with.
Has The Obsidian Chamber turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. But it's still a huge disappointment (except for Auberjonois).
What does Rene Auberjonois bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He has been perfect as Pendergast and brings even minor characters to life. He carried me through what was at best a boring book.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
At the risk of repeating - Auberjonois.
Any additional comments?
Kill off the villain for good. Let tiresome Constance do her thing and don't bring her back. Revitalize Pendergast and the Riverside household.

Historia
The definitive account of the O. J. Simpson trial, The Run of His Life is a prodigious feat of reporting that could have been written only by the foremost legal journalist of our time. First published less than a year after the infamous verdict, Jeffrey Toobin's nonfiction masterpiece tells the whole story, from the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman to the ruthless gamesmanship behind the scenes of "the trial of the century".

Compelling narritive - awful narration
Revisado: 03-07-16
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Entire delivery kept taking me out of the flow. It was that annoying.
What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?
The book is full of them - and I followed the events in detail at the time.
Any additional comments?
Get another narrator, please.
