What a trip through the poetry dog-version of Animal Farm. Beautiful poetry and reading by Michael. Supercool background music. Look, I’m a cat lady and i still enjoyed it. That says A LOT.

A poignant book about this guy’s life from W Baltimore. Starts off a little stumbling, but gets good.

Sad story of 1600 people killed in a small village, but not typical of Polish treatment of Jews in WW2. And to say that the Poles befriended the Nazis in a genuine way is outrageous. No comparison to the rest of the country or mention of the 500 year relatively peaceful relationship between goyim Poles and Jewish Poles. This writer hates Poles! I remember when this came out in 2001! It’s time to focus on the vladdy monster in the East!

The movie went in a different direction in the second half, which I prefer. But obviously i have my whole life of bias towards the masterpiece film. The narrator was EXCELLENT. i couldn’t believe some of the voices were him!

Newton’s audio narration is top notch with such lively characters, making it a worthwhile listen for everyone, including someone like me who prefers more R-rated type stuff.

Here’s my review of the book:

#JaneEyre is the prototypical #Victorian novel. Although the general plot, character analyses, and themes are things you learn about in maybe junior high school, I have found a personal connection with not only this book, but with the Brontë family themselves AND the region they grew up: Northern England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, and even more specifically Haworth, the #bronteparsonage , and the beautifully mysterious #Pennine Moors.

Having been to the region myself and raged with the exclusive Brontë Society, i have been able to form a TRENCHANT idea 💡 of what it was to be a family of four in the early 1800s living in the middle of nowhere (no offense! I mean that in a good way, especially these days). #CharlotteBronte , the author of Jane Eyre died at age 38 because of her pregnancy. And she was considered old compared to her sister, Emily, of Wuthering Heights fame, who died at age 30 of tuberculosis, the Covidx10 of its time.

Alas, if nothing else, having at least a rudimentary understanding of these writers and the challenges they overcame (young women writing against Victorian Christianity and its values from the middle of nowhere, oh no, I’ve said it again!) should inspire YOU to write ✍️ more.

“Amen; even so, come, Lord Jesus!” or whatever…
