Never read a book before that acknowledged so clearly and precisely the need for psychological development and solidarity with all perspectives in the pursuit of a state of genuine cooperation of our species. Intuitions and thoughts I’ve had for a while about what sorts of things would actually be necessary to build on our modern world were for the first time not only acknowledged but powerfully fleshed out, expanded upon, and *warned against*. I really appreciate the tone of realistic optimism as well.

If you’re considering picking this up then you probably already know about Wim and what he’s about. This book is a solid 10.5 hours of Wim Hof telling stories about his life, describing his practice with cold exposure and deep breathing method, and expounding how the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of it can lead to a transformation for humankind. I’ll tell you, I’m into it. Despite being very repetitive, this book is essentially Wim Hof hyping you up and inspiring you to get into the practice yourself. I listened to it over the course of a month and a half and during that time I got into cold exposure and I feel awesome because of it. If you’re looking to learn something, eh, this isn’t really about learning. But it’ll get you convinced to try this out for yourself.

Brené is amazing, obviously, in her work, writing, and narration. I’m looking forward to coming back to this book again and again, as it’s really an accumulation of cutting-edge findings for nearly all the emotions and experiences we deal with as humans.

This book is an eye opener to the kinds of visionary ways of thinking about economics that are already out there. It’s a must read for anyone interested in thinking about what it will take to transform our world. And Kate herself narrates it - absolutely wonderful.

Blackman leaves no stone unturned when giving his arguments. He explains from bottom to top how to integrate and ethical risk mitigation program in an organization, here in the context of AI ethics. Great read for anyone serious about organizational ethics or tech ethics.

O’Neil does an excellent job summarizing the blunders we’re committing at the beginning of the Information Age and what is required to reorient our actions in the direction of human rights and fairness. This stuff affects everyone everywhere, so it’s a book for everyone. Even more so, it’s a book for tech professionals who aren’t aware of the power they hold.

This book awakened me to one of the biggest threats to democracy. It has changed the way I view capitalism, the digital world, and civilization at large. It has also changed *how* I act in the digital world - I now heavily value my digital privacy. I can’t recommend this book enough to anyone who cares about the future of the world.

That said! While Zuboff’s prose and specificity are unparalleled in her writing, the number of times she reiterated the same points was in my opinion hard to excuse. As others have written, this could have been a 13/14/15 hour audiobook instead of a 24 hour one. Still, this book is 100% worth the read, the beautiful slog that it is.
